Anal sex with no colon but has a rectum, J-pouch even?

Location
Scotand
I'm newly diagnosed with IBD. Not seen a specialist yet, but my GP said It's very unlikely it's something else with my symptoms and lab results so far. I may be newly diagnosed, but I've been gay my whole life basically. But more specifically I've been having sex for like 2 years since I was 18, and anal sex is basically a way (an enjoyable one...) that people like me have sex. And of course I know it's not important to have receptive anal sex, but it's something that if I can do if such surgeries have to be done on me and there's no risk, then I'd like to. So is it's possible to do that if you have a rectum, but no colon, or even no rectum but a J-pouch? I only really know that if you don't have a rectum them the butthole is purely 'aesthetic' :rof: But honestly do doctors tell you about this regardless if you ask, or what have they said if you have asked?

Hi, these are all questions that rattled around my head when I was first diagnosed as well. Unfortunately, they were swept away by a toxic megacolon and emergency surgery.

Reading through other people's replies to similar questions it seems like something you need to discuss with your surgeon or gastro. There are no hard and fast rules. It varies from person to person based upon the opinion of the medical professional and what surgery/medical treatment is necessary. That's why it's so important to establish a good relationship with them straight away. Make it clear you are gay and discuss there and then what the future may hold and the implications for your sex life. Being open about who you are and your concerns will help alay your fears and you'll be more informed to make the right decisions for you.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. Tom
