New to the forum, because nobody around me understands

Hi everyone,

I am 30 yrs old, Female, Lecturer, obese, diagnosed with Crohn's since 2012. I am on Asacol - 1.6g. I am constantly tired, I have severe anxiety, and I am gaining weight. How can you have diarrhoea and gain weight at the same time? I try and eat clean most of the time. Also, I just cannot drink any hot beverage, not even warm water. is this normal?

Thank you.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I feel these are are pretty serious issues you should discuss with your gastroenterologist. Asacol is a very mild medication, maybe not enough for you. Maybe your Crohn's is active right now?
For extreme anxiety, if you have tried reducing stress with no result, I encourage you to discuss that with your general practionner. Maybe he/she can recommend psychotherapy or some medication for anxiety. These help a lot. Hope this help:)

Hi Georger
Sorry to hear of your problems..
Have you had a recent review by your gastroenterologist...it could be that your medication
may need reviewing in view of persisting symptoms.
Also has your blood chemistry including blood sugar level and thyroid function been reviewed recently..if not then maybe you should ask your doctor about an update.
Have you discussed the weight gain..
Hopefully you can receive some help to feel better
Hugs

You may need to see a weight loss councilor. I don't mean to be rude, however you said you were obese. Being obese is dangerous as you know. I care and I think you need to look at diet first. Best wishes,
