Baby food for adults?

Ages ago I read that some adults with digestive troubles actually eat baby food and find it helps them. It sounds a bit undignified, I know, but I'm wondering, has anyone on this forum tried it? My gut problems are so bad at the moment that I'm willing to give anything a go!

Thank you for the link. As you say, the jury seems to be out so it's a matter of trial and error. I've bought a variety of items today and I'll give them a try. I made sure to pick the ones with no added sugar as I know sugar is really bad for my symptoms. I was hoping too, perhaps wrongly, that my body might cope better with pureed fibre than fibre in its natural state.

Have you tried juicing? That might work better for you. It removes the fiber but leaves the nutrients, and if you juice mostly veggies and few fruits then it doesn't have a ton of sugar. I have some trouble with fiber, especially insoluble, but I can do juicing just fine. Just a thought for you. Good luck with the baby food, let us know how you do!

I used to get bananas and other fruit, but I had no issue with those foods when they were processed as baby food.....

I am confused why this would be disgusting. When you're body is starving, if baby food works, then why not. If baby food is good enough for babies, certainly it would be good for adults struggling to get some nutrition.

Baby food is nutrition for babies but does not help adults since babies have a much lower caloric need .
Most of baby food is a single vegetable purées with water

there are better alternatives for nutrition for adults such as semi elemental formula (vionex ,modulen or peptamen)
If you struggle with nutrition please bring it up with your Gi
There are a lot alternatives that will meet the needs of adults
Baby food does not

Of course what my little penguin says is correct in that the best nutrition would be from semi elemental formulas. What I was indicating was that if pureed food (not necessarily baby food sold in little jars) seems to be something that is agreeing with someone that cannot tolerate anything, then it certainly wouldn't be harmful and absolutely any nutrition is better than none.

I agree. What seems unappetizing at one point changes when you run out of options.
Like spinach in a smoothie.
I didn't think I'd be into that, but when I'm not flaring it's good.

Nothing digusting about food that helps people manage their disease. Elemental Nutrition (modulen, 028, etc) are the most bioavailable and most technologically advanced nutritional powders you can find. It is made of highly bioavailable protein, MCTs, high DI maltodextrins, carefully balanced micronutrients, and specific growth factors. Yet they somehow are able to keep it free of any lactose, gluten or fibers. It is a 21st century marvel that puts every other form of nutrition to shame. I am extremely grateful that people with crohn's disease have an option, that is free of side effects, and actually seems to help people.

I agree, there is nothing disgusting about it and if it helps then great. We are all different and different foods have different effect on us. I have a friend with serious digestion problems and for some reason he can eat only certain food. He tried baby formula as a joke and he can eat that. He liked it a lot and his doctor told him that he had no problems with it because that is one of the best baby formulas. He is buying it now, it might be weird, but when you have problems like that you cannot choose too much.
