Abscess/fistula question

Good Morning everyone! Happy Friday!
So, two weeks ago I had an abscess form near my vagina area, the dr never said it was an abscess but that’s my guess, it grew fast, was red and painful. The dr drained it, packed it for a few days and put me on antibiotics. My first thought was is this from a fistula? So I called my GI and was told that if I had a fistula that was causing the abscess, then I would have symptoms of the fistula and would know I had one.
does anyone have experience with this?

If it was a fistula you should have additional pain/swelling as there would be a tract leading to the abscess. When I had fistulas form, it was some of the most excruciating pain I've ever had - especially when going to the bathroom (as feces were trying to go through the tract).

I have had a couple of cysts form in the groin area - those got very swollen/painful and looked almost bruised before I was able to open them and drain the pus/discharge. They did end up clearing up on their own.

Ok, so far none of those symptoms. I will keep a close eye on things either way.
how did the fistula heal?
