Sarah has been doing well since she resection a couple of years ago. She is currently living in FNQ. She has returned from a holiday in Bali and had food poisoning(other members of her group were sick as well).

On her return she tested positive to covid. Last week she had 5 days of stomach pain. The wait to see a gp was 3 weeks. She attended the local hospital. Bloods test were done, and they were all clear. They did ultrasound and results were unclear.

She was referred to a large hospital and they did catscan. They keep her in overnight as the wanted her to seem by GI this morning. She has her own room. And is have steriods via iv.

After meeting with GI, two gi nurses and group of student doctors this morning. The decision was made to do a colonscopy tomorrow. She will be last case as they are thinking bacteria infection.

A stool sample is being tested at the current hospital and major hospital 1700 km away. They are also contacting her gi and surgeon in Melbourne.

Sorry to hear about the food poisoning and everything else. I hope you get more answers and this is quickly resolved. I am sorry she and you are going through this.

She had antibiotics for salmonella. Steroids for crohn flare and B12 injection.

And blood tests for everything.

She is well in herself and not likely her treatment options. She has a meeting with the gi team in a month.

Calprotect 1200

I wish she didn't have to deal with that. Hope the steroids and antibiotics agree with her and do their thing. Hoping the calprotectin goes back down as well. Please take care. I know this must be so hard for you as well.

Poor thing!! I hope she starts feeling better soon. Remind me, what is she on for Crohn's? She's on a biologic, right?

Quick update.

She is well! Staying only on aza. Will do a quicker steroids taper calprotect is 18.
Great news!! So glad she is better! Calprotectin of 18 is wonderful! It's always nice to have a number like that together with her self-report to let you know the inflammation has definitely gone down!
