Losing weight with CD

Allright so I am 1.76 cms (5 feet 9) and I weigh like 67 kilos (147 pounds). I wish I could lose 7 kilos (15 pounds).
So i figured I sould try that cut calories out, and do not eat after 6 pm.
So I did, I would eat cheese like 100 grams, after a fruit, for lunch I would eat whatever is cooked, and then i would finish off with a fruit or something like that.
so after 4 days I lost a kilo and a half."Great" i tought to myself.:ylol2:
But in the evening I got a need to eat something sweet. Anything. So I ate 2 and a half pancakes. An tommorw evening, I also ate something sweet I can not remember, but I did not eat much.
In the morning I weigh in 3 kilos more ! XDXD :rof:
I was like WHAAATTT?? No way.
So that was a story of my "dieting" XD

Your current weight sounds just fine---why lose weight.
There might come a time when you will need it.
Losing weight is a long term commitment as you may already have realised.
Day by day various weight changes can occur due to water retention for one thing and also diet..Bathroom scales are not always consistent or acurate..
It is natural for weight to fluctuate a little.
Crohn's takes it out of people --so if your weight is steady I would be inclined to accept
it and leave well alone.
It is a nice post!
Hugs and best wishes

Thank you very much for your reply, but my constitution is not really proportional.
You see, I need to lose my belly and my legs and arms are slim, is just that everything goes to stomach. I have tried fitness for 5 monts and normal balanced diet, but it just does not go away. :p
I only have myself to blame since I am not very consistent and I am mostly frustrated with myself for not going being commited to it. I am commited-but only at the beggining. And that is my bad side I guess.
I have been trying to change it, but I always fail XD
Anyway, thank you so much for advice :D

I try to eat very healthy and smart all day. Yogurt, fruit, chicken, plenty of water etc. Then at dinner I eat whatever I want. If I want a glass of wine and a little dessert, I do it. I find my cravings hit an night and the more I try to "be good" the more I think about all the stuff I want. And it is easier to eat well earlier in the day knowing that in the evening you can indulge a little. I try very hard not to snack at all after around 8pm.

I know that if you really limit your caloric intake (especially in the morning) to the point that you are feeling hungry most of the time that your body will go into starvation mode. Once you do eat food your body will hang onto those calories for dear life and you can end up gaining weight. Lots of small meals through out the day, that are pretty healthy with lots of water will get you at a weight that is healthy for you.

When I say "eat whatever I want" I mean within reason. If I am out for a nice dinner and I want a steak, sweet potato and a glass of wine I don't feel guilty at all about it. I will say that I rarely drink anything but water. I just like the taste of it more than soda or lemonade. I think that helps my weight stay healthy probably more than anything else.

A lot of people with crohns lose their appetite, and therefore lose weight, so weight loss is a common symptom of crohns, I would advise on a personal level keep the weight, its hard to get back during flares

Thank you all for advice, but you know how it is when you are 19.
You want that pretty black dress to look good on you, and not look like you are 6 months pregnant (I get bloated in evening too). So it is mostly young-people problem and etc. And I only lose my apetite if I had a severe diarrhea night before, but that is only in the morning.
And my weight does fluctuate a lot, especially when I get a diarrhea because I ate something specific(for example cheese like Edamer, or I drank milk ,but does not happen when I eat ice cream)

Have you tried gluten free diet? You could also try lactose free milk, see if that helps, or just eliminate the foods that cause you problems and see if they help and go from there, you might find certain foods can trigger different reactions to your body

Yea I have been on a glutein free diet for 6 months now because I was diagnosed with Celiac disease also XD

The "belly" may not be weight but inflammation. My midsection has been malformed even during times of being underweight due to the inflammation of crohns. :(

Hmm maybe you are right, but I hate it XD
I do not even eat that much to weigh like I do :p I kinda eat small meals but they are frequent.
What do you suggest me to do?

My inflammation has never been in total control for long periods of time to get a handle on the other. Some in the diet fitness section may have had some luck building the natural muscle girdle (abs) to control the "look" of crohns. I've had to camouflage it for years. I know that's not what you want to hear, esp. at your age and that is completely understandable.

It's really hard when you can't control things around you but when you can't even control your own body, it's a real let down. Early in our lives before we have defined ourselves in other areas sometimes this part of us is a really strong definition for us too. I remember that time in my life so I do understand your feelings. I do hope you find some possible solutions to try. Different things work for each individual. Keeping the inflammation down is a big start.

Ahh right I forgot I did read that on your other post somewhere, has the diet worked?

Have you been given anything to reduce inflammation in the form of medicine? Because that can help especially if it makes your belly bigger because of the inflammation

Thank you so much for your honesty, but I have kinda got used to it since I have been having those problems for 4 years and more, so it is not really a let-down.
I used to think that eating specific foods and etc can ensure me not having flares, but boy I was wrong.
I learned that it is totally unpredictable and I can totally relate to that "where will you be when diarrhea strikes" quote, which to other people might be funny, but it makes me think XD.
Anway thank you for your time :D

Wish you luck with the diet. Myself I am trying to gain weight. Everyone I know says I look skinny. I am getting smaller n smaller. I try to eat when I can ...but some days. I can na eat at all. I used to be almost 300 lbs...now I am almost half of that. Most of my family did na even recognize me. This has changed me completely...everything about me is different. I am a stronger n slimmer version of my ol self. I would try to hold on to what ya got.
Wish ya luck.:)

Well they have given me Seldiar to take control of my diarrheas but it only helps me somewhat since I get a high temperature from it. Other than that and my usual therapy, nothing special was perscribed.

Thank you, and I know I am not a right person to tell you this and you probably know it, but try eating protein more. I did lose like 15 kilograms in 3 months at the beginning of the symptoms but that is not as bad as your situation. Anyway I hope you will achieve your goal. :pika:

I'd love to not have to go thru the day without that on the top of my mind. I don't think it's funny at all, but I play it off that way with family when I'm asked to do things and have to plot out "bathrooms" to see if I can handle it. :stinks:

I really hope you get some good ideas to help!

Same thing here, and they usually give advices like " do not think about it and it will be ok" but when I have to go, I have to teleport myself into bathroom within minutes. XD I always carry a cheap perfume with me in my purse, since I know it is going to smell like dragon poop hahah :D

Hi Mylo,
Like AuntieEm said, it might be related to inflammation. I remember back when I had my colon, my friend were telling I did not lose my "baby" belly. I was far from being overweight or anything, I did weight something around what 95lbs for 5ft but I had a tiny belly because my colon was so inflamed back then. I'm not skinny now, but since my operation, I don't get that so I assume inflammation/bloating played for much.

I would suggest you to try discard dairy for a while and see if that helps you. It is hard to go gluten and dairy free but I think it would worth trying it for about 10 days and see if it helps you.

Also, I don't know how your bowel are going, but avoid constipation, make sure you get proper fiber intakes (that you can handle considering your current condition), you may want to consider taking some psyllum husks. Make sure to drink your 8 glasses of water a day.

Avoid gasy foods; beans, cabbage and such and please, stay away from sugar substitutes. These, not only can cause bloating, they are, in my opinion, wrong on every aspects possible.

Thank you so much, but I have tried avoiding all of the above, and nothing worked, I still had bloat no matter what I eat. It sucks, but I guess I can cope with it. I start with a flat belly in the morning only to be bloated like air baloon during the day.
Only when I eat a little like really really child-like meals I do not get bloat, but I get pain in my stomach, so I figured, better bloat than pain. :p
I do not have constipation, but I do get diarrhea from time to time.
