New here and hoping to make friends!!

My name is Tyshena but everybody just calls me Shena. I was diagnosed with Crohns disease in 2008. I was 15 years old when I found out I had it. It started with me using the bathroom alot. Eventually I started losing my appetite and sleeping all day. My mom took me to the doctor one day and the first thing she said was that I didn't look good. I was later told that I had been dying when I went in that first time. It's been 5 years since that day and I have only been in remission once. (During the pregnancy of my daughter ). I have seen 3 doctors and neither has been able to find a medicine that works for me. I have been on many medications that don't work and was told that the medicine I have now is probably my last resort. I am now on cimzia. A shot that I give myself once every month. Lately I have been having more bad days then good. I will be going to the hospital for the second time this year and I am more nervous than ever. I became a member here because I wanted to be able to talk to people who know what I'm dealing with. I'm very excited about being here and I hope I make many friends!! :)

Hi Shena and welcome to the community. I'm so sorry to hear you've only been in remission once :( I know they say that a large part of remission during pregnancy may be due to hormones, but out of curiosity, did you take some specific prenatal vitamins while you were pregnant?

Again, welcome to the group. We're glad you found your way here :)

Welcome Shena. It's a great place here to make friends and find support among those who are going through the same struggle. Many of us have tried many drugs but continue to suffer but hopefully soon doctors will figure out a way to get you into remission. Are they considering switching to another biologic? How long have you been on Cimzia?

Thank you David! During my pregnancy I did take prenatal pills but cannot remember what they were at this time.
I'm of the opinion that vitamin and mineral deficiencies can play a big role in the pathogenesis of Crohn's disease. If you did great during pregnancy, you may want to see if you can track those pills down and run a little experiment (with approval of your doctor of course) and see if they help at all.
