Nausea

Hello guys,

I've been experiencing nausea, without vomiting, these last 3 weeks, especially during morning... it sometimes calm down during evening, but its very annoying and make me feel very sick.

I had a major flare with bleeding in april and switched from humira to prednisone. They found out I had inflammation in the small bowel and strictures. I started entyvio 1 month ago and have my third injection this week.

10 days ago the doc gave me back prednisone at 25mg/day as he said entyvio could take a bit to work, and this nausea could be related to inflammation rather than strictures... it worked out very well the first week i felt relieved after one day... but it went back 3 days ago, and i should start tapering the pred tomorrow...

What do you think? Does it happen to you and do you use some medicines to reduce it?

Thanks Ron. I spoke to him, he told me to keep the prednisone at the same level for another week.

Have you ever experienced similar symptoms? This kind of nausea is quite new for me.

I have crohn's in the small intestine and feel nauseous frequently. I take promethazine (phenergan) and sometimes metaclopromide (reglan). If it continues you might ask your GI to prescribe something. I also get stomach pain from prednisone (great!). Even though it reduces the inflammation quickly stomach pain can be one of the side effects. It comes on slowly, usually after I have been on it for six to eight weeks. I hope the entyvio starts working soon.

In my case the nausea started when i was off from Prednisone for 3 weeks.
I asked them before about metaclopromide but they were reluctant saying for crohn's like mine it wouldnt be recommended... dont know why... is there some bad side effects for crohn's with those drugs?
i'll enquire again if it keep going.

Thank you very much for your answers!

Metaclopromide helps increase peristalsis. In my case it is helpful since I become constipated very easily. Promethazine might have fewer side effects, although it made me sleepy at first.

Marijuana works very well for nausea. Far superior to any pills doctors have prescribed in my experience. If this is a feasible option for you, I recommend edibles.
