Humira and Tamoxifen

Hi all....have been on Humira for CD for 3 1/2 years and have been in remission.....haven't posted in quite some time....was diagnosed recently with Aypical Ductal Hyperplasia after a biopsy was done of my left breast. Will be having a excision biopsy (lumpectomy) in the very near future. If there is no cancer....ADH puts you at a higher risk for breast cancer & one of the prevention therapies is Tamoxifen ....does anyone know or has anyone encountered the same experience? AND is it OK to take Tamoxifen while on Humira? Can't help but have this little voice in the back of my head saying..."Did the Humira have anything to do in the first place with the abnormal biopsy?" Anyways just looking to hear from anyone going thru the same or having any knowledge of taking both Humira & Tamoxifen .....obviously I'll ask my surgeon when I see her next....appreciate any imput anyone may have!!!

Not sure on that drug combo
I do know a few kids who had thyroid cancer on humira /remicade
We’re able to switch to Stelara (this was years ago before it was approved for Crohns) they are still on it)
Wishing you the best

Just wondered if any biologic is working against Tamoxifen where it suppresses the immune system???

If that’s the case ivig (immunoglobulin) is used in refractory Crohns
Basically given large does of IgG
Thus boost the immune system and does not suppress it

Three years ago I was diagnosed with Crohn’s and started Humira. Three months later I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma. I had a lumpectomy, radiation, and then started taking tamoxifen. I probably had the lump/breast cancer when I started Humira. I never went off the humira for the surgery and continued on both medications for 9 months. The surgeon and GI worked well together and neither had issues with being on both medications. It wasn’t ideal but necessary. I also had no side effects. Unfortunately the Humira stopped working and I switched to Remicade. I am still on tamoxifen and will be for the next 7+ years. I’m in remission and feeling good with minimal side effects from either medicine. My best wishes to you for the same!
