    Small split on surgical incision

I just wanted to ask if this was ok to treat at home or if it is something I have to go back to the hospital for. It's a split at the bottom of my incision and its no bigger than a dime...actually half the size of a dime. It hurts a little bit but not severely and is draining a little bit but...

    Protocolectomy question

I have another thread in the stoma subforum about the surgery, I just wanted to ask: When they remove your rectum, how long does that take to heal or at least not hurt as much...I hate not being able to sit up straight or put too much pressure on my bottom.

    Officially an Ostomate!

Hey guys, i had my total protocolectomy done on 10/19/2010 and I am home from the hospital. A few quick questions: Gas? Does it get less frequent? Nausea, lack of appetite and dizziness, do these go away after the surgery? I ask because these two things have been troubling me the last 2 days...

    2 more weeks!!

So I decided to go ahead with the ileostomy mainly since my track record with medications is horrible. They are going to give me an epidural to help with the pain since they are removing my rectum on top of it all. Anyone have any stories with an epidural as I have no clue what to expect in...

    Ileostomy Surgery?

I had a colonoscopy yesterday and things arent looking too hot. My Sigmoid colon and rectum are pretty ulcerated and strictured along with my Ascending colon. My small intestine is in good shape however. I have been on pretty much every medicine for this disease with no avail and now I'm at a...

Where do i go from here?

So here I am after a while of trying Vedolizumab with no avail. I'm having sharp pains from my lower left side, all the way to my anus that don't seem to subside. I've expended pretty much every medication out there and I have no clue what to do. I'm barely able to eat unless I use MJ which I'm...

    New pressure/sharp pains

new pressure/sharp pains First off, happy easter to everyone! I'm having really sharp pains about an inch or two below my navel. I'm concerned because my inflammation is usually in the lower left area and I'm hoping it has not spread. Also, I spike a fever and have a very sensitive gag reflex...

    Feeling Down/Depressed

I don't really know where to start so I'll just let this roll from my fingers to the screen. The last couple days I've felt really down. I've started to flare up again and it seems my doctor and his secretary could give a damn less. It's almost like they haven't listened to a word I said. I...

    Diets that have worked

So I was wondering if anyone on here has ever tried any sort of diet that has worked for them. I've heard of quite a few since I was diagnosed back in '03 but I've always been stubborn with the "I'll eat what I want" mentality. Some of the ones I've heard of: Macrobiotic Diet Low Residue...

    Moving Out

Hey guys, I just wanted to know if anyone had any advice on moving out. I'm 21, and have wanted to "fly from the nest" for quite a while now. I have one main concern and that is health insurance. I am under my father's plan now, but when I move out I will need to get medicaid. I am worried...

    If i didnt have you...

I know that I freak out sometimes, and it's especially hard when I'm on prednisone. You've been here through everything and I couldn't ask for a more supportive better half. You aided me after my surgery, you help bring me back up when I start to drown in my own thoughts. If there was one person...

    Conundrum

This really isnt a vent thread...moreso a which way to go thread. I've been posed with some possibilities. Long story short, they are continuing methotrexate = be miserable for another 2 months until my doc scopes...start a research med = possible relief or possible reaction...and temporary...
