• Welcome to Crohn's Forum, a support group for people with all forms of IBD. While this community is not a substitute for doctor's advice and we cannot treat or diagnose, we find being able to communicate with others who have IBD is invaluable as we navigate our struggles and celebrate our successes. We invite you to join us.

    LGBT Crohn's Patients

Haha, yes exactly. Apparently on the 2nd there was "order a large water from Chik-Fil-A day." I would have participated if I could. Hehehe.

    LGBT Crohn's Patients

Hi! Welcome to the forum. Have a look around. I actually had that surgery six months ago, and it was the best decision I think I could have made for myself. I wrote about it in excruciating detail in the link in my sig. If you want to read that or hear other stories about surgery in general, we...

    LGBT Crohn's Patients

You guys are so wonderful and sweet! Awwh. Here's a pretty nifty thing that happened today: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57346633/2-women-share-1st-kiss-at-us-navy-ships-return/ Hooray for the DADT repeal!

    LGBT Crohn's Patients

Another example: Oftentimes women are told to have their first pap smear within a year of losing their virginity. This leads healthcare providers to telling women who haven't had sex with men (are gay) that they don't need pap smears, even if they have been sexually active for years. This may...

    LGBT Crohn's Patients

This is an excellent article about the health disparities: http://www.autostraddle.com/hhs-announces-intent-to-care-more-about-lgbt-health-83107/ Just one example: "Because LGBT people are regularly discriminated against in employment, relationship recognition and insurance coverage, they are...

    LGBT Crohn's Patients

Yep, here and queer. We have lots of members who identify this way. There's a coming out thread in the Members Only section I believe. The medical community has a long history of ignoring the unique health needs of the LGBT community in general, so it's not surprising that it would happen with...

    Bowel Prep Club

Tips, tricks, distractions. We've all been there. We will all be there again. I start my bowel prep in 3.5 hours. Not excited. This site has some silly flash games: http://www.ferryhalim.com/orisinal/ My favorite stress reliever is called "Fish Ball." You push a ball under the surface of...

    Prednisone!

Anybody out there on Pred right now? Is it helping your symptoms? Are you having crazy side effects? My joints are FINALLY starting to hurt less. :thumleft:

    C diff club

I've had it. I've been told people with IBD "just get it." The treatment for it sucks. Let's talk about C. diff and how awful it is/what we can do to prevent or treat it. I was given Flagyl when I had it, which was so, so unbelievably awful. Zofran just barely took the edge off the nausea so...

    Psoriasis

Anyone else have this? I am guessing I have either psoriasis or "extra-intestinal" skin inflammation. Mine is on the back of my neck so I mistook it for severe dandruff for years. Until the Humira cleared it up entirely. Now I think it's slowly coming back (I'm off the Humira). I hate it.

    Surgery - Remission

Well technically I am in remission and my surgery was a "success" so I thought I would post here. I am wary, it is still under a month since it was done and I don't want to jinx myself by saying I'm good to go, but I thought I would post that surgery was the right choice for me and I'm so glad I...

    Prep Time

Not sure when to start my prep. The box says your doc will tell you when to start - hmm! All I know is am not supposed to eat or drink anything after midnight - not even water. The box says to take the pill first and then after I have my first bowel movement (1-6 hours) or after 6 hours if no...

    Giant colon! "Coco"

Sorry if this has been posted already, I did a search and didn't see it. Relay for Life in Reno has a giant colon for people to explore, it's for colon cancer awareness. Pretty cool! I think it's going to tour the country? I skimmed the article. :p...

    Surgery!

I'm scheduled for a right colectomy 6/15. Hopefully I can get down on the Prednisone by then. I am so excited! When they actually scheduled me in the system I felt this overwhelming sense of joy and relief. I didn't realize fully until now just how much I wanted this! She seemed to think it...
