    Blender versus juicer?

Looking for opinions as to which is a healthier option, at least as it pertains to those with crohns. I like the idea of having the fiber in a more digestible form but not sure it's a great idea. Thoughts? Also, if I do decide on a blender, do ones like vitamix and blendtec make a difference...

Unreal Candy - a healthier junk food alternative?

Love unreal candy. I certainly wouldn't classify as health food, but I think it's an awesome alternative to traditional candy. I bought some before Halloween as an alternative to the dye-filled candy my son got trick or treating cause he can't eat dye

    Post-Surgery "Ledge" Belly Bloat

I'm only 9 days post resection so I can't speak to that, but I do have the same ridge from previous c-sections (almost 8 years ago).

    Sex after resection

I'm a 34 year old female who had a bowel resection 9 days ago. It was open surgery, not laparoscopic. I asked my doctor when it was safe to have sex and they basically said it was up to me and how I feel. How long did others wait? I feel pretty good, but I do still have some incisional pain at...

5 days post surgery. Crohn's free, really?

First off, I'm female, in case it makes a difference:biggrin: I'm very perplexed by it all. I've probably had (just based on the pain I used to experience) partial bowel obstructions for many, many years (possibly as much as 15 years ago or so in college) I would get intense pain, but usually...

5 days post surgery. Crohn's free, really?

Hi everyone. I had a small bowel resection on Monday. I believe I was told it was about a foot of my small intestine and 3 inches of cecum. The surgery was done traditionally (not laparoscopic) I was thankfully released from the hospital yesterday. I'm doing well now but I'm trying to digest...

    I Am A Huge Chicken!

Can you ask a friend or someone to do it for you until you can? My doctor also offered for me to come in the first few times until I got used to it, but luckily it was not necessary, but may be an option for you.

    This sucks!

Also, I was told that pain meds slow the bowel recovery process so I tried to lay off them as much as possible. Don't torture yourself though. Good luck!

    This sucks!

I'm sorry, that does suck. I know, for me, I was 90% better the day that stupid NG tube came out. I'm so sorry yours had to go back in. Not fun. Hopefully it'll be out and you can move up to tolerating liquids and it should all get better from there. I just had my resection Monday so I know what...

    I hate Crohn's

I'm sorry, I stumbled across this post and have now finally had a good laugh for the evening! Thank you ladies! If I do recall, this post was originally about camping. Sorry the trip was cut short for your son. Hope he's feeling better soon. Now I want a smore's. And have a need to experience...

    Weight!

Lost weight initially, gained it back and then some with entocort. Losing it now that I'm off entocort but not yet where I started. Having a bowel resection in 10 days so i'm assuming that I'll end up losing again, but I guess that remains to be seen.

Easiest way to travel with Pentasa...

I just have a cheap daily pill container from the dollar store that I throw in my luggage. Or I've been known to just put the whole pill container in my luggage. Or either of these in my purse. I'd just bring some drinks or granola bars or similar "snack" food you could drink/eat with your pills...

    Sad News about Crohn's Dad

Oddly I had never really considered the Paleo diet, but I saw someone post about his death a couple days ago and started reading up on his blog and am now intrigued. So, in a small way, his loss may have an impact in my life. I guess that seems odd. Regardless it seems as if he was a great man...

    Joint attacks!

Wow, that's so scary. I do hope your're doing better. Please keep us posted.

Side effect or normal progression of disease?

Up until now I've really been lucky to not have as many systemic (for lack of a better word???) complications from my crohn's. I really just have fatigue, general achiness, headaches (which may or may not be related) and of course the abdominal pain and issues. The last week or so I've been...

Should humira-ites avoid hospitals? - source of infection

I don't know what is recommended, but I do know that I really honestly never think about infection and have been on humira since december. I spent 4 days in the hospital myself and visited various family members there on quite a few occasions. Perhaps I'm just lucky (and possibly not very smart...

    Bowel obstruction

I've only ever had partial bowel obstructions and they were quite painful, so I'm quite surprised you're pain-free. Although I suppose the difference could lie in what causes the obstruction? Anyway, I'm certainly no doctor, but if it were me I'd go on a full liquid diet and call your doctor as...

    Resection and medications

I'm sure this has been posted before, but I didn't have luck finding it exactly. I'll be having an iliocecal resection on the 30th. I'll put a call in to my GI on Monday, but I'm just curious if your doctors had you go off of all or some of your meds before surgery? My doctor already had me...

    Got a date for resection.

I have my resection scheduled for the 30th. As of yet I have not been told about any drinks, however I put on about 15lbs in last 6 months or so due to entocort so maybe they thought I didn't need the calories? Good luck!

    What Career/Job Do You Have?

I used to be an occupational therapist in various public schools. Then I chose to stay home with my little boys. However I am in the process of divorcing and my youngest just started preschool so in theory I'd like to go back, but can't at the moment due to my crohn's. Hopefully in the future.
