    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

That "little needle poke" has had catastrophic effects on many people. As of 23 August in the VAERS database maintained by the U.S. Government, there are 514,270 adverse reaction reports to the COVID vaccine and 5,118 documented deaths. These are only the instances that have been documented...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

Even the hospitalization numbers can be misleading because they are taken out of context. The friend I mentioned earlier who works in a hospital told me two days ago the medics brought in a 93 year old lady who was experiencing complications related to congestive heart failure. She was admitted...

Denied coverage for Remicade Aug. 2021

I agree on the appeal. Oftentimes, the first bean counter that a claim lands in front of sees the number and has sticker shock. I had to do this with one of my endoscopies a few years back.

    Rectal bleeding

I would hold off on the fiber as well until you see a new GI (or multiple new GIs). Cutting down meat, especially red meat and any processed meats, is not a bad idea but you will still need some protein. You can get some protein from nuts if you are able to eat them, but be sure they have been...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

As an engineer, I can say based on my 22 years' experience in the field that ANY product, I don't care if it's an engine, radio, computer, pharmaceutical, or whatever, that is rushed through development and testing is going to have problems. Some problems are minor, some are major and many take...

    Rectal bleeding

That was smart not to wait. Hopefully they'll be able to figure out what's going on soon.

    Feeling a bit let down...

Glad to hear the numbers are looking better! I was hoping it was only an outlier. Hopefully the scope goes well and you'll be declared in remission. It's a wonderful feeling, let me tell you!

    Rectal bleeding

Agree - if you are passing blood go to someone else. It could just be a severe case of proctitis, but you need to get it checked. Could be a fissure or something else that could get infected very easily. Some of these doctors, I have no idea how they completed medical school....

    Feeling a bit let down...

If you aren't having any other symptoms, it could just be an outlier. It's been about 2 months - did you get it re-checked? I'm an engineer as well. While it's good to track data trends, sometimes you can over-analyze and drive yourself crazy, especially when it comes to your health. I have an...

Stelara reducing in efficacy or just flare?

Has he been on the vancomycin and other antibiotics for the whole 8 months? If so, he may have developed an intolerance to them. Most antibiotics are meant to be short-term solutions. When I was a teenager and first having symptoms, before Crohn's was even a well known phenomenon and they...

    Son recently diagnosed with IBD

As someone who was first treated with steroids and was on them way too long, I can sympathize. My original GI was going to leave me on steroids permanently, but my GP felt it was a bad idea and weaned me off of them. While the steroids did their job and kept me in remission for several months...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

There were some businesses (sit down restaurants, theaters, gyms, etc.) that were shut down longer. Church services could only be held virtually, then at 25% capacity, then 50%, then finally back to full capacity this May. Baltimore City didn't completely ease restrictions until almost this June.

    Flare question

That's strange. Not sure why they would have waited so long to order the scopes, especially if you were passing blood. Even if the reason was because of a surgical backlog, they could have at least done an MRI enterography or at minimum a CT scan to see if there was anything obvious. Keep a...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

Exactly! Here in Maryland, one of our local stations has started reporting the overall positive number plus the number of new hospitalizations. For example, yesterday's numbers were reported as 1,012 new cases and 19 new hospitalizations. 19/1,012 is about 1.9% rounded up. So of yesterday's...

    Colonoscopy while on prednisone

The pred could have dulled the inflammation, resulting in a false negative. Or, you could be one of the special cases like I am and have very little inflammation in the lining of the colon and almost all of it in the small bowel or on the exterior surface of the colon - both places that a...

Losing appetite but feeling healthy, flare incoming?

Yes - the processed and preserved stuff should be avoided as much as possible. It can contribute to flares and other conditions that aren't even GI related. Aside from that, eating very much of that stuff just makes you feel drained and overall unwell in general.

    Flare question

Hard to say without more information, but it sounds encouraging. Has your GI done any follow up lab work since you came off the pred? That will help identify if there is any active inflammation still there. Also, did he/she do any imaging or endoscopy while you were flared? That is usually the...

A good sleep for a better life ! Personal experiment

One thing that helped me was to get tested for sleep apnea - something I had no idea that I had in addition to Crohn's. At my worst, I would sleep for about 2-3 hours, then wake up and be awake for an hour or two, then sleep another 2 hours or so. I simply attributed it to being in pain and...

    Covid vaccine 3rd dose?

Israel has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world AND is now among the highest rate of active COVID infections. Everyone take that to mean what you will. I talked to a friend this morning who works in one of the supposedly over-run hospitals. Said that almost all of the COVID cases...
