How do you feel about tapering steroids? I'm thinking with her frequency and the blood, that answers the question as to whether Entyvio is ready to handle things alone. After going through so much over the summer and making the improvements that she has, it would be a huge disappointment for...

FCP results based on disease location

S's GI isn't a fan of FC for small bowel. When I asked at some past appointment, he said he didn't feel the result would be helpful as S's inflammation had been in small bowel. FWIW, at the time (may have changed??), he said the test wouldn't be covered under our provincial health (perhaps we...

"Oh...so that's where you ended up." My intro to duodenal Crohn's

S had inflammation in the duodenum when he was diagnosed. But I can't offer any advice or experience. At dx and after, none of his symptoms were ever attributed to his duodenum specifically and it was never brought up again. It just resolved when other areas cleared.

Such a great update to read!! Sounds like everything is going well and he's on top of it all!! You've done a great job, mom!! :D Just really good to hear he's been in remission and moving forward so well! So glad you posted. :) Where did all the 'kids' go from when I joined?? Unbelievable...

Just lots of wishes that all runs smoothly for her at school and no more obstacles for her!! (But glad you'll be there in a couple of weeks to see how she's really doing! ) :D

Wow, so stressful when everything is so uncertain and decisions need to be made last minute! Not the ideal situation for any control freak! LOL But, at least, there's progress in that O and GI are considering a local GI for care... and, GI is considering sending her back with PICC.... Is...

    Early Detection

Good luck tomorrow! This forum is a fantastic place to learn and find support. My son was diagnosed at 16, he's now 24. He responded well to treatment and hasn't had a flare since being diagnosed. He's had some minor blips, some infections which may or may not have been related to having a...

Ugh... I just wish everything was going a bit more smoothly... so many balls in the air!! And, I just think it's wrong to change anything (steroids or entyvio) until she's on firmer ground, especially with school coming up. I get that the GI also needs to work with insurance, etc. but...

That school deadline just adds to all the pressure! :( How often is she having bloodwork and cal pro? When will you be seeing GI again? Wish you were seeing more obvious improvement - less bleeding, more weight gain, etc. :( Still, there is improvement, hopefully, that momentum will pick...

I know my opinion is useless BUT insurance should NOT be allowed to drive the treatment for any patient! That is crazy!

I really hope you're right and she really is slowly improving!! Why would he drop from 600mg? If she's doing better and gaining, why change things right now? But, maybe there are other health related reasons to drop to a lower level?? Lots of wishes all continues to get better!!!

I can imagine that her stamina absolutely needs to rebuild. After being inactive and so sick in the hospital for so long, back-to-back trips and activities would surely drain her. I hope you both had a chance to rest and recover a bit over the weekend. How's she feeling today?

    Unknown (as yet) viral infection

No. S said he's waiting for ID clinic to call and GI just said 'ok'. GI went by 'elimination' really. As he didn't think S really fit the profile for ReA, he's thinking more viral. I'm not 100% sure now but I think he also mentioned that 'viral' would explain why the two doses of abx...

    Unknown (as yet) viral infection

I'm really so appreciative of S's GI... with S not having a consistent GP (or any right now), it's a relief to have someone really look at the whole picture! GI doesn't believe it's reactive arthritis. Believes joint pain would be more prominent with the urethritis and conjunctivitis being...

    Unknown (as yet) viral infection

Unfortunately, I'm not sure. I 'expect' that it would have been an opthalmologist. It was the hospital's ER that referred him to their eye dept. As they were dealing with an eye issue that had not been resolved at the first ER visit, plus he also has urethritis plus he has crohns... I'm...

Eye is still not really better. S says there's still a bit of crust in morning and sometimes it's a bit blurry. He's not sure if the blurriness is 'new' because he's been off work, so he's not sure if it's the screen, office lights, etc... He's calling eye clinic again to schedule apptmt...

Living with Crohn’s as a Child

Hey Adam, I'm really glad you found this forum! My son was diagnosed when he was 16. And, while I don't have crohns, this forum was great in helping me learn how to manage my son's illness and accepting the changes to our lives! But, having said that... the changes WERE manageable, once your...

O is the ultimate 'where there's a will, there's way'!! Even with all the extra coordination and organizing that is currently part of her life, I hope it's smooth sailing until she is truly in a stable place!! The two of you truly are real troopers!! :D
