Wondering if anyone has to have regular iron infusions? I received a phone call from my IBD nurse yesterday, in a flap because my latest blood results had come back and I was in urgent need of an iron infusion. Miss piggy (my Stoma) has just turned 3, so I an assuming that in that time my...

Stoma 'belly bands' where do you get yours?

I have been using the same 4 belly bands for the last 2 years. They were purchased online from ostomysecrets. That is, of course when they shipped to Australia. They are now dying from use, and I really need to replace them, but alas I can not get them shipped to Aus anymore. I thought I had a...

    Bottom abscess back

Feeling really annoyed and sad. It's been over 2 years since my proctectomy and permenant ileo, and yesterday I had a really sore bottom. Went to the loo at work to find a mess of blood and pus and a feeling of relief in my rear. I must of been stupid to actually think once my bottom end had...

    Gas bag

Not sure what's going on at the moment, I've been REALLY gassy. Anyway the other night hubby, kids and I were sitting around outside after a BBQ and just chatting about life. My youngest who is a bit of a gassy bum did a 'bottom burp' :stinks: and his brother and sister laughed and told him to...

Miss Piggy is turning 1 on Saturday

Wow, I almost can't believe it's been a year. Some days it feels so frustratingly new, yet other day I feel like I've had my Stoma forever. I think one thing I miss a little is the newspaper! Yes, I used to get to read the paper as I spent so much time in the loo that I could finish the whole...

    What's going on?

I've been cruising along quite well since Miss Piggy came along, until 3 days ago. Mid afternoon I started getting tummy cramps, unlike any I can remember, I feel really sore, tummy swollen and only passing liquid. Forgot to mention on the day it started, my bag was completely empty from bag...

Getting a little anxious as we are flying over to Perth for a week to stay with my i laws for their 50th wedding anniversary. Anxious on lots of fronts. Having to set up my changes in a whole new environment, should I double bag my refuse and take it to the outside bin. How do I disguise that...

I'm just a burden on my family

This is really hard to write because I have always thought of myself as a fighter and a survivor. I'm just so depressed. I used to have a wonderful family, a great husband and three beautiful kids, but I am just driving them away. I can't stand myself and don't think I should be dragging...

    Noisy!!

Is it just me, or have these coloplast bags got more rustley. Keep startling myself with the crinkle crinkle of my bag. Think I may start carrying an empty crisps packet to blame the nois on!

    Thrush around Stoma

I have the itchiness, stingiest ? Thrush infection in the area around my Stoma. It sits under the base plate and itches like hell. I spoke to the Stoma nurse, 4 hours away and she recommended using an over the counter tinea foot powder. Unfortunately I have relief for about an hour and then it...

    Bladder problems post panproctocolectomy

Just wondering if any ladies have ended up with weakened pelvic floor post op. When I mentioned my 'new weak bladder' the CRS said "well of course we cut quite a bit of your pelvic floor muscles out". Now I'm not too sure if exercises will fix this or if now I will have to put up with new problems??

    Finally back to work

I went back yo work for the first time since July last year. The CRS has given me permission to go back 2 days a week for 4 hours a day. Better than nothing. At this point just glad to have something to do. Now I just have to wait for bottom to heal and I may get permission to do some more...

    To disclose or not disclose.

I am a bit excited, I have a job interview on Monday. It's for a 20hour per week student support officer at the college where my kids go. It's way less stressful, less hours and no travel as opposed to the job I have now. My concern is do I tell then at the interview that I am recovering Stoma...

    Whoops

I think I may have had too much Christmas cheer. Tomorrow will be not too good I am expecting. Not sure what may make me feel better beside sleep and fluids. :beerchug:

    Took a dip

Wow, what a great morning :ycool:. It was forecast to be 41*celsius. So I bravely threw on my tankini and board shorts and headed down to surf club (surf life saving) with kids and hubby. Whilst I didn't do the run swim rum or the board races, I did just laze in the crystal clear icy cold water...
