Using Ultrasound to Diagnose Crohn's Disease

Got this newsletter today. Kind of interesting. I would prefer this in that there would be no nasty Barium to drink and probably less radiation than a CT scan. I should be glowing green by now with all the CTs I have had... Historically, Crohn's disease has been difficult to diagnose because...

    Staph Infections & Remicade

It's been a while, I know. Life has been crazy, but after 3 years of a flare I am finally in remission. Since July. But since I have been on Remicade, I keep getting really bad Staph infections. Anyone else have this problem? I am pretty sure my first one was when the ER put the NG tube up my...

Running to the Potty for a Week....

Yes, it's true. I've been having diarrhea for over a week straight now. Did stool samples, all came back negative. No colitis, no parasites, no salmonella, etc. So what the heck??? Only relation I can find is that I've been tapering Prednisone. Otherwise I'm on Asacol and Azathioprine. Any of...

    GI Mecical Records Came....

All I can say is....wow. :eek2: A few weeks ago I ordered my medical records for the last 1.5 years at the advisement of my Stanford doctor. At first I was going to request all of my medical records, but the receptionist told me that would be too costly, since it is 25 cents per page to print...

    The Battle Scar Thread

Ok, I couldn't find it. No thread where we show off our battle scars??? I started listing these in my own thread, but was reccommended I start an entirely different thread for everyone to share! Here is my ongoing list: 2007 Exploratory surgery where they ended up removing my appendix and...

    The NO DIET, diet

Anyone here who ISN'T on any specific diet? And, how is that working for you? :) I'm just wondering how people who aren't doing anything special are feeling compared to the ones who are. Nothing is really working for me right now, and I've tried a lot of things. Or maybe I'll just go back to...

    The Appendix and Crohns

I had an interesting conversation with my parents last night, (crohns seems to be the topic of all our discussions these days) and my mother brought up a pretty valid question. Many people have discovered they have Crohn's due to their appendix rupturing. So why don't doctors look into Crohn's...

    Transplant Question

Ok, I had a weird thought the other night. Why is it nearly every other organ in the human body can be replaced with a transplant from another person, but NOT the intestines or colon??? Is it because it's just too complex, like the brain? I WANT A TRANSPLANT!!!!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN, SCIENCE...

    Goat's MILK?

Ok, so according to my new diet, cow milk and cheese is gone, and goat milk and cheese is in. I need someone's HONEST opinion on what they taste like. I have heard both it tastes JUST like cows milk, and also that it tastes like 'old billy goat" I will, of course, be trying it regardless, but...

    Crohn's Disease, OR...

We are all sick and tired of hearing people say: "at least you don't have cancer" and so on. :ybatty: So I thought maybe we could make light of the situation by playing a little game! I will start with "Crohn's Disease OR...swimming with man-eating sharks" The next person should post FIRST...

    Holding a Regular Job???

Newly diagnosed here, but living with it for years. • How many of you hold regular full time jobs here? Is it possible? I lost my job when this all flared up a year and a half ago, and have been stuck on disability since then. In the state I'm in now, I can't imagine working again, which...

    MINI Cooper's Blog

Hi everyone. It's great that there is a forum for people coping with Crohn's. One of the worst feelings is that you're alone in all of the suffering. I have just been given a preliminary diagnosis of Crohn's Disease. However, my doctors are still looking into the possibility that I have an...
