Does anyone have IBS & UC?

I had an appointment at my GI's office today to discuss pain I have been having, mostly RUQ. They think there is a possibility that I might have IBS as well as UC, so they are starting me on bentyl to see if that helps. I will follow up with the GI's office in two weeks. If the bentyl doesn't...

    Useless ER doc

My husband took me to the ER tonight because I had so much abdominal pain that I was doubled over & could barely move. They gave me zofran, toradol, and IV fluids. Then they discharged me, still in pain, and told me to call my GI in the morning. The ER doctor basically told me he didn't know...

    Vent-nurse at my gastro's office

I called my gastroenterologist's office this morning, to talk to the nurse and leave a message for my doctor. The nurse was one that I have not talked to before, and she wasn't very nice. She made me feel like I was just wasting her time. I've just recently switched to this gastroenterologist...

    GI appt yesterday-frustrated!

I had an appointment with my GI yesterday, and he told me that I am going to have to be on prednisone for 3 more months!! Blah. I was hoping that I would be able to stop taking it. I've been on it for two months already, and I am so sick of it. :( Plus, he gave me a prescription for Delzicol to...

    So tired, all the time?

I've been on prednisone since April 28th. My symptoms have settled down quite a bit now, and I've tapered down to 10 mg of the prednisone. However, I am still feeling just exhausted all of the time, even when I get more sleep. I feel like I have to stay busy just to keep awake. At home, I'm...

    Tips for an upcoming trip?

My family and I are planning a trip to Disney World in the fall. It is going to be about a 20-hour drive, so I'm a little nervous about the long car trip. I'm also a little nervous about the time in the parks, getting to bathrooms and such. I haven't taken a trip like this since I was diagnosed...

    Question about BMs

I am supposed to call my GI's office tomorrow and check in with the nurse to let her know how I am doing. He wants to put me on mesalamine once the prednisone calms down my symptoms. The diarrhea has been calming down, but today I had 7 BMs. They were not loose, but much more frequent than they...

    Appointment today-anxious

I am seeing a new GI this afternoon for a second opinion. I'm not very fond of my current GI, so I am really hoping this works out well. I'm feeling really anxious. I think this morning is going to crawl by.

    Lialda causing diarrhea?

Two weeks ago, I had an appointment with my gastroenterologist, and he told me I have Crohn's colitis (instead of my original dx of UC), and doubled my dose of Lialda. Ever since I started the double dose of Lialda, I have been having diarrhea, nausea, and feeling worse than I was before. I'm...

Has anyone been told they have Crohn's Colitis?

I saw my gastroenterologist today as a follow-up from my colonoscopy in November. He told me that since my first colonoscopy in May, the inflammation has gone deeper into the lining of my colon, so it is now considered Crohn's Colitis. I had labs today to check my C-Reactive Protein, and he is...

    Exercise?

What kind of exercise do you find is most compatible with your UC? I know I should be doing something, but with my aching joints, and abdominal pain, exercise doesn't sound fun.

    Abdominal pain?

What do you do about abdominal pain? It seems like I have it quite a bit, on and off. The past week, it has been really bad, though. I called and talked to the nurse at my GI's office this morning. She basically just told me that's normal. She said she would talk to the doctor and get back to me.

    Learned a lesson

My husband and I went to a concert the other night. We were in the middle of the row, and I started feeling bad. I was feeling like I was about to have a bathroom emergency, but I felt trapped. I had 6 people on one side of me and 4 people on the other. I ended up having to climb over the 4...

UC symptoms, med side effects, depression?

I have been feeling very tired all the time. I have a difficult time working up the energy to do anything, even simple things like washing dishes. I try to act happy, and like everything is okay, but I'm really not happy most of the time. I was diagnosed with UC in May, and I am taking Lialda. I...

    Lialda side effects

Does anyone know if frequent urination could be a side effect of Lialda? Ever since I started taking it, I feel like I have to go all of the time. I am even up a few times in the night to go. Any thoughts?

    Pre-existing condition?

Does anyone have any knowledge of the laws regarding pre-existing conditions? My insurance company has requested medical records from my GP related to digestive issues from 2008 to the present. I started having my UC symptoms in Nov. 2011, and was just diagnosed this past May. We got our current...

    Anyone take Lialda?

I am about to switch to Lialda from Apriso, and wondered if anyone has had experience with the Lialda. I qualified for Shire's patient assistance program, so I will be able to get it for free, compared to $200 a month for the Apriso. I'm hoping it will work and I won't have to switch meds again.

    Just saying hello

Hello! I've been lurking around the past couple of weeks, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I was just diagnosed with UC on the 17th, after having problems with diarrhea since November 2011. My gastro put me on Asacol HD, 2400 mg twice a day. Goodness it is expensive. We don't have very good...
