How often does one need to change probiotics?

I've been using Jarrow S. Boullardi for some time, and do well with 10 billion. However, it does not have a lot of strains, and I am wondering how often do people change their probiotics? Also, and good suggestions for vegan, gluten free products that are around 10 billion cultures?

    Gatorade alternative for colonoscopy prep?

I have a colonoscopy coming up on April 9th, and I'm wondering if there are any "healthier" alternatives to Gatorade. I don't want to make my own drink or anything like that, I just want to know if there are less crappy options.

    Give up fruit temporarily?

So, I am technically not supposed to have more than one serving of cooked fruits a day due to trying to limit my sugar intake (even natural ones) for the time being. I don't have cravings for sugary stuff, but once I eat some steamed fruit or applesauce, my body is practically screaming for...

My experience with Traditional Chinese Medicine

I have been seeing an acupuncturist who gave me herbal teas and put me on a diet eating cooked vegetables (mostly leafy greens), meats/eggs, and 1 serving of fruit a day. No oil, butter, or spices except for some salt and ACV. I started in October, but struggled getting used to the diet for the...

Want to ride a bike, but seats hurt.

Hi all, I am hoping that I will feel good enough to ride a bike again by this spring or summer. I want to buy one, but the seats tend to hurt due to weight loss and inflammation in the rectal area. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for in a bike that may be more accommodating?

    Article: Which Diet is Best?

This is good article to read, especially for those who are starting to eat healthy, and/or are skeptical of the Paleo/SCD/etc approaches: http://www.thankyourbody.com/which-diet-is-best/ It's also a learning tool for those who think their approach is the only way.

    Gaining weight - advice?

I'm on a diet that right now consists simply of meats, veggies, and fruits - all cooked, no butter or oil. I eat mostly soups to help with my digestion, and (with the advice of the acupuncturist) add just a bit of potato to the soups in order to maintain/gain weight. I also put in meats that are...

    Dietary preferences at the hospital?

This is more curiosity than anything, but is it possible as a patient to eat paleo/SCD/etc in the hospital? How would someone go about it, other than bringing your own food from home?

    Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

I have been undergoing acupuncture for a little over a month now, and I have been drinking chinese herbs. The acupuncturist also started me on a diet where I can only eat cooked meats, veggies, and fruits - soups 6 days a week, and 1 day where I can eat "solids". Her hope is that we can...

    S. Boulardii

I have been struggling with probiotics - the last one had 15 billion cultures, and I lost my appetite, throwing up, etc. My coworker told me about S. Boulardii, and how the Mayo hospital is encouraging patients to take it (especially if they took antibiotics). I might just need to go down to 5...

    Potatoes added to Whole30

I have never done the Whole30 challenge, but I feel that this could be useful information for others. It states that white potatoes are allowed now: http://whole30.com/2014/07/new-whole30/

    Disability benefits

This might be a silly question, but could I get disability benefits if I have a full-time job? I am not asking for money, but more like protection in case something happens like hospitalization. I am already approved for FMLA, but I am not really sure how the Disability Act would work in my case.

    Elimination Challenge

Hi all, I saw a Dietician who focuses on natural and complementary remedies for the first time. She suggested that I start an elimination challenge for 1 month...I stay off of gluten, wheat, corn, nightshades, and dairy products for 10 days, and then on the 11th day, i eat one forbidden...

Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

For the Minnesotans on this forum, the legalization of medical marijuana will be debated in 2014. Go to the MN Marijuana policy project site to sign a petition to Gov. Dayton to pass the bill. Not sure if I would use it, but I am all for providing every single option neeeded to help others...

    LD and Integrative medication

    New kid on the block

Hi all! I am just introducing myself here. I am 26 now, but I started showing major symptoms of Crohn's about a month after I turned 16 (what a nice birthday present). I have had some ups and downs, was even in remission for a short period of time. I have done some dumb things like stop taking...
