    Yogurt while traveling?

I'm going to be traveling in London and Paris this summer and wondering what to do about yogurt. I would rather not go without it but making it while traveling seems impractical. I know there are lactose-free yogurts commercially available containing lactase. I've heard people say to avoid...

    SCD London/Paris

I'm going to be traveling in London and Paris this summer and wondering if anyone does SCD/Paleo in those places and might have tips on stores and restaurants? I will be staying in places with kitchens, so mostly planning to cook and pack food like I usually do..but any insider tips would be...

    Adults using EEN

My Crohn's seems to be flaring back up. My GI is encouraging me to begin either 6MP or a biologic. If I choose to begin a biologic I will not be able to start until November because of a round of vaccination I need to complete. In the meantime, she is hesitant to prescribe prednisone because it...

    Pain with Pentasa

This week I switched from Apriso to Pentasa. I am also currently tapering prednisone to deal with a flare. I am feeling much better, and my flare symptoms have gone away...However since I started the Pentasa I've had some stomach pain - a sort of heavy feeling in my gut - that feels better after...

Flare after 3 year remission on SCD

Curious to hear others' experiences of flaring after luck with SCD, Paleo, etc. What was your next move? - Different dietary choices? Different meds? I was diagnosed with Crohn's in Nov 2013, started SCD a few months later, and was declared in remission within a month or so of that. I modified...

    Eczema

Anyone have positive experiences treating eczema with something other than steroid creams? I am not experiencing Crohn's symptoms. I eat SCD and take apriso...but I've had eczema patches on my hands on and off for years. It is recently really flaring up...Big red patches that feel tight...

    Traveling and Eating out SCD

I have been doing really well for over a year now eating a slightly modified version of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (I eat sweet potatoes often, and rice very occasionally...but otherwise SCD). I am confident in my routine...But I am planning a weekend trip this summer where I will be...

    Still doing well

It has been a long time since I have posted, and I've been thinking about how important it is to reach out when feeling healthy, not just in moments of doubt or crisis. I am still feeling healthy, officially in remission since last spring, thriving in an intense MFA program, and my blood work...

    Lower dose of Imuran?

Wondering if anyone has successfully lowered their dose of Imuran while still maintaining remission? The increasing hair loss after showers is starting to freak me out a little bit. I also have my doubts about how much my remission is really due to Imuran because I felt such improvement starting...

    Butter or ghee

I've been wondering why both butter and ghee are allowed on SCD. SCD is lactose free, and making ghee removes the lactose from butter, right? So, shouldn't butter not be allowed? I've been sticking to ghee, but wondering if others eat butter? Feel ok eating butter? Or understand why it is allowed?

    Elevated Liver Enzymes

I have been feeling great for the last couple months, sticking to SCD and taking Imuran. I went to see my GI yesterday, and my Crohn's is considered in remission (Yay!). SED rate has gone down, No longer Anemic, weight regained, etc... But.... I have mildly elevated liver enzyme levels. My GI...

    SCD in the Woods??

I'm headed to a festival this week, and I am wondering if any SCD/Paleo folks might have suggestions for bringing food. I will have coolers and a camp stove, and will be able to get a few things from food booths (grilled chicken, burger patties). Any SCD camping/festival advice??

    SCD 3 Ingredient muffins

Just tried this recipe - super easy and they are delightful! http://mywholefoodlife.com/2014/06/26/flourless-peanut-butter-muffins/#PEbmXdkujy2cOv2l.32 The recipe says it makes 12, but I think it's probably more like 8. I tried to stretch it to 10, and ended up with small muffins, that were...

    SCD Parmesan Kale Crisps

I just tried this recipe and they were delicious! An awesome crunchy, salty snack for those of us who can no longer buy a bag of chips... http://www.scdforlife.com/2013/03/scd-recipe-parmesan-kale-crisps.html I just tore the kale instead of chopping it, and used a bit more than the recipe...

Fruits and Veggies - Cooked or raw?

Wondering what choices others on SCD (or not SCD if cooking fruits and veggies has been part of your diet) have made with regard to cooking fruits and veggies. Did/do you cook all of them (other than bananas and avocados)? How long from the time you started SCD did you cook all fruits and...

    SCD Snacks and veggies

I feel like I am constantly eating bananas with almond butter, hard-boiled eggs, slices of cheese, and avocados. I love all of these, but wonder if anyone has quick, easy SCD-friendly snack ideas to share? Or ideas for quick ways to get more veggies for someone who is not eating them raw for the...

    One Month Prednisone-free!

I am now a little over four weeks off of prednisone and so far am going strong on SCD and Imuran! While my sugar cravings drive me nuts at times, I am so grateful to have found this diet. For me, it felt like the meds helped stop my symptoms, but changing my diet is what really took me a step...

    Prednisone and Visual Hallucinations?

I've been on 40 mg/day of Pred for about a week and a half. I'm hesitant to call what happened a "hallucination" because that sounds...scary. But, last night for about 15 seconds my visual field filled with swirling points of light that left trails (much larger and more distinct than the little...

    Flying with Crohns

I'm flying from Oregon to New York on Saturday...And am feeling pretty nervous. I was prescribed Entocort when I was diagnosed in November. It worked for a bit, but symptoms are back and blood work today suggests I'm back in a flare. I'm going to see the doctor about changing my medication...
