Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

Does anyone know a GI specialist in Oregon who is at all open to MMJ and other natural treatments? Our current peds GI doc is "very uncomfortable" with our regimen (despite good test results and no symptoms) and wants us to get a second opinion. I'd like to find someone who isn't so completely...

FYI, making sure you're getting a substantial amount of CBD along with the THC can help to reduce paranoia and anxiety. Also, you don't mention how your son used it, but ingesting works better than smoking and also delivers the medicine right to the gut, where it can work best.

Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

I'd be interested to know what dosages and ratios others use, both for maintenance and when they need to address active inflammation. I just visited the MMJ doc and was hoping for more specific guidance, but he basically tells me I'm the expert. I appreciate that, but I'd like to think someone...

Thank you. We actually just had MR enterography yesterday, and his gut looked really good -- no strictures, fistulas, or thickening of the bowel lining. Looks like we've got pretty good control over all.

I haven't seen any studies indicating that CBD alone can induce remission. So far, all indications are that some THC is necessary. I found this study particularly helpful in arriving at a ratio: https://www.cbd.org/sites/cbd/files/downloads/cbdpatientsurvey_september2015_carebydesign.pdf We're...

Smoking isn't the most effective way of medicating, although you'll likely get some benefit. THC is also a very important component; a balance of THC & CBD is ideal. If you're able to get edibles, an oil, or a tincture, you would probably get better results. Florida is not a kind state to be in...

Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

You live in a tough state, and I wish you the best of luck. I really hope the rest of the country recognizes sooner rather than later what a terrible mistake it is to withhold this medicine from patients -- ESPECIALLY kids! It's just plain ignorance.

I'm so thankful to live in a state where it's allowed. My son is completely off pharmaceuticals now and is doing SO MUCH BETTER! If you have the means, especially if your child is struggling, it's worth considering relocation for this.

My 11-year old currently gets approx 5-7mg THC & 10 mg CBD per day. In the oil we get, that's only 1/2-2/3 dropperful of the THC daily, but products vary widely in potency.

It seems that activated THC is necessary for really effective Crohn's treatment with cannabis. If the CBD works for you, that's great, but I'd get some oil with a significant amount of activated THC in it in case of flares, at least. If you're a novice user, I'd start with just 5-10 mg at a time...

Not ONLY, but we're now trying MMJ in addition to other natural meds. Just got off the last of the pharmaceuticals (sulfasalazine) and just on THC, THCA, and CBD plus several other supplements. So far, so good.

Are you asking for advice here, Skatefarmer? If so, more info is necessary.

Thanks for the link. Yes, cannabis is well-known for reducing anxiety. Just be careful about balancing your activated THC with CBD, which seems to mellow the psychoactivity and reduce any unwanted effects of a high THC dose. These info sources are pretty good, but always take them with a grain...

Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

My son used to be on azathioprine, but his GI specialist pulled it when his liver tests started coming back showing unsafe levels. She does not appear to believe in any natural remedies (she told me my work with our naturopath was "belief-based") and really wants us to put him on Remicade...

Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

The only link I've seen to mental illness has to do with schizophrenia. Although there are some indications it may trigger the onset, making it appear earlier than it otherwise would, current research indicates marijuana is not a cause...

See posts from Colty'nsfamily on 5/11 & 5/12 for the advice they gave me. Also said to couch lock for a couple of weeks and then back off slowly.

Is anyone using THCa to manage their Crohn's? I'm seeing that it's showing promise as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulator.

It totally depends on your recipe, the strength of the material you're using, and the dosage you want. If you can get lab-tested bud (do they have that in France?), then you can know how much THC and CBD is in it and start your calculations there. If not, you'll have to make your best guess...

Sticky Medical Marijuana for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

Personally, I've obtained 3 types of plants: high THC/low CBD, high CBD/low THC, and one variety with about a 1:1 ratio so I will be able to make all three types of oil and use them as needed. The specific strains don't matter much unless you have favorites; it's what's in them.
