Higher Vitamin D Levels are Associated with Improved Outcomes in IBD Patients Treated with Entyvio

typically, in studies, daily doses are healthier and have less side effects then larger weekly doses. 50,000iu a week is 7142iu per day, so that is a similar dosage in the study I posted. Its probably only usefull to take higher doseage the the RDI if your symptoms are really active and you...

Higher Vitamin D Levels are Associated with Improved Outcomes in IBD Patients Treated with Entyvio

I take 2000iu per day, all year long. The upper level limit is about 4000iu per day depending on individual factors like age body weight etc. There are quite a few studies that show benefits for vitamin d supplement on IBD. Here is a study from 2013 that gave 18 crohn's patients 5000iu...

    Carnivore diet.

You will be low in magnesium, fiber and potassium, all of which are mainly from plant foods, as well as many other nutrients. Whole grain wheat, oats, barley, and nuts like cashews, almonds and sunflower seeds are pretty much your best sources of magnesium, which is critical to your body...

Allergy study on 'wild' mice challenges the hygiene hypothesis

That's probably because pathogens compete with the natural microbiome, and in some cases, they win in small ways, even if the host/infected isnt killed by the infection, some of the good microbes may have died off in the battle, never to return. Allergy study on 'wild' mice challenges the...

I suspect I have IBD...GP has given me antibiotics...could ABs make it worse if I'm right??

i apologize, i misread your diagnosis as inflammatory bowel disease, not arthritis!! either way, any gi issues you described could also apply to my advice. Vitamin d will give you some support for fighting infections in your body.

I suspect I have IBD...GP has given me antibiotics...could ABs make it worse if I'm right??

This link below is what i was referring to, its called antibiotic stewardship or promoting the responsible use of antibiotics. It may be the case the your docs judgement is sound, but its hard for me to judge in this case whether it was. But if there is any other option then antibiotics, I...

I suspect I have IBD...GP has given me antibiotics...could ABs make it worse if I'm right??

The idea of a, just in case, antibiotic prescription, is part of the problem right now in medicine, as far as I recall. I'd say skip the antibiotics, talk to another doc. Also learn about dietary changes that might help your IBD to add to your meds, the studies have come along way in this area...

New study links air pollution to cases of inflammatory bowel disease in B.C. children

The chart showed there was greater then a 50% increase in IBD in children since 2018, that's actually very alarming. And that rate in 4-5 years outpaces the increases during 2000-2016! its a faster increase then the last 16 year period. just one guess as to why, perhaps covid restrictions and...

    FECAL TRANSPLANTS: A Guide

Hi Micheal! Thanks for the reply, I recall coming across your site a few times. I'd like to take time to explore the links you provided very soon! I've only done about 4 FMT's, and only wanted to try it again after I learned more about it. I have experienced some lasting improvements from some...

Exercise causing me to flare-like symptoms...help!

So it seems you may have a good point with hypoxia and G.I. Inflammation being a possible explanation for an increase in your symptoms related to abdominal exercises. But I may add that iron is crucial for hemoglobin to supply oxygen to cells. So low Iron/anemia is exacerbating intestinal...

Exercise causing me to flare-like symptoms...help!

And if you are anemic, that's another skew on normal biology ,so who knows how anything would behave under those conditions. I am aware that iron is still pretty important with maintaining effective immune responses, like most vitamins would be, but I'm not sure how it would be connected to...

Exercise causing me to flare-like symptoms...help!

mechanical/muscle movement around the abdominal area can, likely, stimulate peristaltic movement of the intestines, so can vibration impact from running. This is usually a good thing for normal healthy people to keep regularity in bowel movements. Perhaps this could be how it might be triggering...

Exercise causing me to flare-like symptoms...help!

You mentioned that you go to the gym, gyms can be less then hygienic/sanitary, so perhaps its just the microbes on the gym equipment.

Exercise causing me to flare-like symptoms...help!

Kudos for your search for a scientific explanation. by any chance did you start any supplement around the same time as the exercise? I've never experienced issues with exercise and symptoms. unless you are seriously over-training perhaps. But ibd symptoms themselves can disrupt sleep, and...

    FECAL TRANSPLANTS: A Guide

My understanding of this study is that the depletion of catestatin, an antimicrobial protein found in immune cells, was able to change the G.I. Microbiome in mice to resemble the microbiome in human IBD. This could mean that pathogens might be able to damage the microbiome to create IBD. And a...

Canadian medical research breakthrough - Gut bacteria combination shows risk for Crohn's disease

I like this! Although they might be overselling it a bit when they said something like its the only project that matters and so forth. then one page says they are tracking bacteria and another says they are using blood samples, kinda weird. Also it says they study started in 2008, that was 15...
