    Update!

Hi Guys! Sorry I've not been around recently! Did A LOT of over time recently and then one of my dear co-workers took their own life on the 17th. So was very sad and update about that :( But actually got to see my surgeon on Wednesday. He's so lovely. He always says that I smile at the time...

    Dreams/nightmares

Does anyone else have dreams or nightmares about their stoma? I keep getting loads of them! The most common are farting/pooing even though I still have a bag and no colon. Although the other night I had a bad one where my stoma kept prolapsing. I find it really weird.

    Going under the knife again!

Op date planned for the 25th. Only day surgery though. The surgeon said he's going to cut open my bum wound where's it's healed to let the discharge come out more. He's not happy about doing it and neither am I! It hurts now, yet alone with it sliced open again! I'm actually more nervous about...

    6 month post op update

Hello everybody! The 7th was my 6 month anniversary. Oh how time flies. Unfortunately I am still seeing the surgeons team on a regular basis. STILL having all the same discharge that I've had ever since my op. Sad thing is, I'm just used to it now!The good thing is that the hospital are doing...

    Possibly more surgery!!

So Wednesday I went for another appointment with the surgery team to see how my healing is going and to see if the discharge is any better. I'm almost 5 months post op now and the discharge is still exactly the same! Luckily they took me seriously this time rather than the 'it's still early...

Travel insurance for those in the UK

I think for those of us in the UK, getting travel insurance is always a pain in the arse. Pun intented. We know we're going to have to pay more.. but how much is too much? I'm off to Cyprus for a week and I knew my wallet was going to end up with a huge dent in it as I was hospitalised in Feb...

Just when I thought the nasty procedures were over with...

.... there was talk today of putting a needle through my vagina!!! This is right after my vaginal ultrasound. STILL getting discharge through my lady hole and I'm worried it's stopping the hole from that to where my rectum was from healing. They could see some pockets of fluid around the...

    Sympathy needed!

So I'm driving home from work which is about a 40 min drive. My bag has been empty most of the day. As I'm driving home my stoma is stinging a little, so when I get home my bag is suddenly pretty full and it's a decent consistency but my wafer needs changing. So I get set up. I always change...

    Ostomy bag survey

Ok guys.. I have some questions that I'm curious about as I'm still trying loads of different makes etc. 1. What 1 piece or 2 piece system do you use? 2. If you use a 1 piece, how often do you change it? If you use a 2 piece, how often do you change the bag and how often do you change...

    My panproctocolectomy

I'm sitting here alone at work and about to leave so thought I'd make this now while I remember. But the day has arrived already! My surgery is tomorrow. Eeeek. I've got to be there at 7.30am and I'm first down which I'm relieved about. No hanging around getting even more nervous! I'm in good...

    Me and my fake stoma

So after seeing my stoma nurse in a more official capacity (she looks very different with her uniform on!) I got a few test sitings and lots of bags to go with my fake stoma to try before my op in October. So I've been trying it out for a few days at a time for the past couple of weeks. I even...

    My balloon dilatation

As some of you know, I got my rectal stricture dilated on Tuesday and am so glad I got it done! I also refused to take full prep (I didn't see the need to go through that when it was only in my rectum) and glad I opted for the enema instead. The doc that did it was actually one of my fav docs...

    Random stoma nurse meeting

So.. my surgery is scheduled in October and I had my first appointment with the stoma nurse in September. BUT I already met her. Very randomly at a BBQ last night! That's some coincidence considering my hospital is 25 miles away. My friend who graduated on the same course as...

    Another one bites the dust!

Hey guys, I've now had confirmation that I'm having an ileostomy and full proctocolectomy on the 7th October! Eeeeek. As some of you know, it's been on the cards for a while so I was mentally prepared for the news but I've never had major surgery before so I'm rather nervous! Luckily I can get...

    Crohn's inventions

I'm sure this has been done before, but just something to lighten up your *insert time of day, and day of week here*!! If you could invent anything to improve your life with crohn's, what would it be? For me it would be some kind of strap on air freshener so that the air around me ALWAYS...

    Bananas and strictures

Does any one else with strictures have problems eating bananas? I was admitted into hospital a few months ago with a partial blockage after hardly being able to go to the toilet for a week before. At the time I had been eating a banana a day on work days for 2 weeks. I've been eating a banana...
