Does this sound like Crohn's to you?

So, my 13-year-old daughter has had 4 weird episodes in the last year where she wakes up with diarrhea and vomiting (usually 3 to 4 bouts of each) for a couple of hours, no fever, and then bounces right back and is fine. She says she doesn't have diarrhea or stomach pain in between. Of course my...

    Having surgery Wednesday

This one a laparoscopic exploratory surgery to see why I keep having bowel obstructions despite no evidence of currently active Crohn's. My GI doc thinks it is adhesions and if it is, the surgeon hopes to fix them with the laporoscope. Please wish me luck . . . I would so love to find an answer...

    LGBT Crohn's Patients

Straight girl chiming in to send love & hugs to the LGBT Chronies. It is totally ABSURD for anyone to receive less than the care they need. Maybe it's time for the health care community to start to focus on health care for the LGBT community, the way women's health care has become a major focus...

    In the hospital . . . again.

Unmitigated pity party ahead. Just a warning. Second time this year for a small bowel obstruction. That makes the 9th since my first one in 2008. Despite eating almost nothing . . . I eat low fiber, gluten free, no skins/seeds, etc. I eat about 75% liquids/smoothies, along with a little white...

Does anyone else have small bowel obstructions all the time?

I'm starting to think I'm the only one in the world who has this problem. I have been hospitalized SIX times with small bowel obstructions in the last 3 years. I actually have had many more than that, but sometimes they subside before I go to the hospital. I'm starting to not trust my doctor...

Pimples a side effect of Imuran?

In a fun new possibly Crohn's-related development, I've developed pimples all over my neck . . . none on my face. Weird, huh? Could this be a side effect of Imuran?

Colonoscopy to check anastomosis for disease recurrence

Colonoscopy tomorrow, to check the anastomosis site and look for recurrence of Crohn's activity following my resection (done in February). I've been feeling great since the surgery but just last week began feeling Crohns-y again, so I'm a little worried. Mostly I hope the doctor says the...

First flu on Imuran, is it supposed to be THIS bad?!

I started taking Imuran in mid-Feb and have gradually titrated up to my current (max) dose of 125 mg. I have done fine on it with no side effects. That is, until my daughter brought home a flu. She had 2 days of fever, fatigue, and cough. I of course caught it and now am on day 8 of fever...

    Radiation from scans--anyone else scared?

Over the last 2 years, I've had: 3 chest/abdominal CT scans At least 15 X-rays of chest & abdomen (obstruction series) 1 barium enema 1 small-bowel follow-through study :eek2: All in the ER or while hospitalized with bowel obstruction, or to diagnose Crohn's. And I'm freaking out owing to...

Beans and corn sent me to ER--so angry at myself

OK, obviously I'm new to Crohn's or I would have known better. I was just diagnosed in October 2009. I posted the details in My Story if anyone is interested :). On February 4, I had a laparoscopic ileocecectomy, which went very well, and I have been healing nicely. I started Imuran and Flagyl...

Dramatic entry into world of Crohn's

Hi everybody :). So here's my story . . . In a nutshell, I was just diagnosed with Crohn's in October 2009, after suffering 3 bowel obstructions in the previous year, which after many unpleasant tests were found to be due to a very narrow stricture in the terminal ileum. I apparently have...
