Just took my first shot

So, after being 4 months on Imuran and Pentasa and with no progress at all (the disease even spread to my stomach from my ileum), my doctor said that I should replace Imuran with Methotrexate shots.

I'm taking 25 mg/week, and I just took my first shot. I have been wondering if anyone had good experience with it, and if so, how long did it take you to be in remission?

Note: I'm currently on 20 mg of Prednisone, too.

Fingers crossed it does the trick for you! I went to a specialist centre for a second opinion and heard that methotrexate is still a good option, at least if you don't plan to have children (soon) etc. I was told. No idea how long, I was on tablets once and did not tolerate them, should wait around 6 weeks at least, I guess.

I'm starting to notice a difference, and I'm not really sure if it's my imagination or what, but the symptoms have lessened a little bit!

I'm sorry that you couldn't tolerate it. I would have preferred tablets to shots, but my doctor said that I should go with shots and see the outcome.

The specialist told me that shots are the only option for Crohn's, I was treated by a rheumatologist at that time and he suggested that, did not contact my GI before trying the tablets. Go for the shots, tablets have too many side effects, maybe I would have tolerated the shots, but no way with the tablets.

I have already started with the shots, so there's no going back.

I really hope that this will be the right combination for me, because I got sick and tired of being ill all the time. :/

Totally get you, same here. Hope it is effective for you, fingers crossed.

Hey there!

I'm doing good. I took 2 shots, and there are no side effects, so far. They hurt just like any other shot would do, so you don't have anything to worry about.

I actually was expecting my symptoms to lessen in a much faster pace, but it's almost like I'm taking nothing. Anyway, my doctor told me to wait one month before I start judging, so I got 2 more shots to take before I say whether things are going the right way or not.

I too am taking PPI (Dexalanzoprazole) for the healing of the ulcers, and I finished my antibiotics a couple of weeks ago.

I really hope things will get better for both of us. Let me know how you did after the first shot.
