3 recipes using vegan foods for Crohn’s disease patients

According to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, about 1.6 million americans have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), and in 2010, there were 187,000 hospitalizations specifically for Crohn’s disease, a type of IBD. Recently, the scientific community is looking more into the role of diet in keeping ‘IBDs’, such as crohn’s disease at bay. So, below are 3 recipes, using vegan foods, that have been shown to have healing outcomes in Crohn’s disease patients.

Using foods for the purpose of healing Crohn’s disease patients, is becoming the way to go about Crohn's disease and its symptoms. Recently, it has been reported that sweet potato, banana and coconut are, some of the healing foods, ideal for Crohn’s disease patients. So, the 3 recipes below are using the foods aforementioned, proven to help ease the symptoms of Crohn’s disease.

1) Strawberry, banana and coconut smoothie
Ingredients
3 cups fresh Strawberries
1 large banana
1/2 cup Coconut Water

method

Take off the top of the strawberries and peel the banana. Put everything in a blender along with a few ice cubes if your fruits are not cold, and blend till smooth. Taste and add a sweetener if you like, but I didn't feel the need. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

I have found coconut water, ripe banana, ripe papaya, all to be excellent for UC. Slippery Elm Banana Smoothie is very good.
