Hi all,
I'm due to return to work on Monday after 2 months off for surgery. I am so so anxious about returning to work!! I run two food counters, most of the time I am working by myself and therefore can't leave the counters unmanned to go to the toilet as there is no one to cover. This is starting to really stress me out because at the moment I always have urgency, sometimes have painful stomach pains prior to going and can sometimes be on the toilet for up to half an hour. Waiting until the end of my shift is not an option for me :shifty-t:
This is my main concern but I'm also worried about the tiredness that I suffer from and that my typical shift always requires some kind of heavy lifting (I had open abdominal surgery & healing complications) I had planned on discussing returning to work with my IBD nurse and specialist but I don't have an appointment until the 8th Feb.
Are your employers understanding with your needs? They have offered to have someone with me for the first week but I really don't think that is going to be enough - I need access to the toilet.
What do we have a right to ask for from our employers?
I have a meeting with them today to see if I can try and work something out with them so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
