Hi all, I’m new here!
Long story short, I’ve had bowel issues for a couple of years now.
Have had lots of tests just recently, and yesterday had a horrifically painful sigmoidoscopy. They found lots of inflammation, hence the pain, and have taken 8 biopsies, and have booked me in for a colonoscopy (thank goodness I can have sedation for that!).

They’ve mentioned possible Crohns but I’m not so sure, my calprotectin back in October came back normal, despite the heavy inflammation seen during the sigmoidoscopy. Surely it would’ve been elevated for Crohns?

Any advice would be appreciated, hopefully getting some answers in the new year!

Crohns that is close to the rectum does not raise fecal cal like traditional crohns.
Plus fecal cal is just one marker and can change drastically so it might be. Better to get a new fecal cal to determine what number for you corresponds to inflammation.
Scope /biopsy and MRE imaging are the gold standard
Not bloodwork
