Hi guys I was put on 30mg of prednisolone for five days and to reduce every three days which I done my CRP levels went from 33 to 19 but im still have really bad D with some blood.I went back to the doctor today but I never got my usual doctor and he has given me another dose of prednisolone the same as before and has upped my mercaptopurine from 25mg to 50 mg but during the whole time he was asking me what he should do which has concerned me and also he said my protein levels are low??ive never had this before what does it mean??

Thanks :ybatty: :poo:

Hi Condit.....

It should be him advising you, not you advising him! Is this your GP? Do you have your own consultant/specialist at your local hospital that you could contact about this?

Sorry I can't advise on the meds, but it does sound like you need to check things out with a Specialist.

Yvette :)

I've tried to contact my consultant but he is off at the moment :( not sure what to do my own doctor is off aswell.I'm not that keen to start the pred and up my other meds due to the fact the doctor I saw had no clue what to do.

Hey,

Oh it's frustrating when you can't get hold of anyone, I have been in this position. How long is he off for, could he be back on Monday? If you could wait until then?

I don't know if it's an option at your hospital, but as well as my Consultant I also have an IBD nurse who is also based at the hospital, who I can contact to discuss things like this. She can answer or liaise with my consultant and feed back to me. It might be worth asking if there is an IBD nurse available to you, so you have another contact in situations like this?

Also my Consultant prefers me contacting the hospital instead of having other GPs involved in my medication/treatment, so that situation like yours don't happen.

Hey,

I've tried everyone and been on hold for over an hour waiting on IBD nurse..I've taken 30mg of pred to see if it will ease the D.
Hopefully someone will get back to me.

no luck cant get IBD nurse either :ybatty: :ymad:
