Agent update

Hi everyone

I haven't really been far away, I've been logging in most days but not posting much. Been meaning to post an update, particularly about work-related issues for a while, but now seems to be the best time to do it.

I was made redundant a while ago, but with the proviso that I had to work up until September 2010 (because they had no-one to do the work). This proved to be quite remarkably stressful. I was having trouble at work anyway, as I'd been incredibly tired all the time and found it very difficult to function at all. Some days it took all my energy just trying not to fall off my chair.

Last January I succumbed to a flare and went off sick... I was also diagnosed with mild/moderate depression/anxiety, work-related stress, etc etc. So I never went back to work from that moment. It was a weird time, and quite horrible... I was sent to Occupational Health specialists (who basically supported me). So the final decision was made to let me go from work early... and that's the point I'm at now.

I did nurture a slight hope that on the first day that I didn't require a doctor's note (3 July) I would miraculously feel better... but it didn't quite work out that way. The worst symptoms of the flare are over, but I'm left with a lot of fatigue... sleeping at least 12 hours at night, as well as during the day.

However, everything is working out quite nicely at the moment and gradually getting better... I just want a bit more energy so I can work on my writing/painting/ music making projects.

Welcome to all the new people on the forum. It's still a very nice place to be... shame you have to have crohns or something similar to join the club

Cheers

Hey Agent. Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. Hopefully if the worst of your flare is over your energy will come back soon. Being tired all the time sucks, especially when there's a ton of stuff you want to do, but you just can't bring yourself to do it. Hope you're less fatigue-y soon. :)

Hi Steve, so glad you came back! You have been in the past a wonderful and caring person and supporting others. We understand what you have been going through and alot of people jobs have disappeared too. The economy will pick up but there is no guarantee your health will change or get better, we can only hope right? It is great that the occupational health team is on your side. Thank goodness some people do care! I see so many working and when you are tired, ill or in pain, how do you keep going?

I hope you get feeling up to par soon, glad you found your back, and just remember we are here to support you always!

Hugs, Penny

hi Steve - so sorry to hear you've not been good, and about the job situation too :( i hope everything starts to go in the right direction for you soon.. and it's lovely to see you back posting again :)

Thanks for the messages, everyone. I do get particularly annoyed when I hear that people are getting a hard time at work because of crohns (or for any other illness) and the current economic climate is not going to help that one bit. So I feel glad to be well out of that one and will have to see how the money goes... but it's not disastrous.
Although I still feel under par on a day to day basis, the real yardstick is comparing myself to how I felt a few months ago... on that basis I feel great!

Anyway, booked a holiday a while ago... in just over seven weeks time I'll be going to Menorca for two weeks... so I've got to go out and buy some shorts and get going on my Spanish language CD

Adios!
