Amitriptyline

Hello, I am a 48 year old male located in Canada. I have been recently diagnosed with mild Crohns in my terminal ileum. Recently, my GI specialist had prescribed amitriptyline at 10 mg a day. I have been taking this medicine for a week and was wondering when it usually takes effect?

Amitriptyline? I believe that is used to treat depression - to improve your mood. As far as I know it doesn't have any direct effect on Crohn's disease.

Are you sure your GI didn't prescribe azathioprine? That's a more typical Crohn's medication.

Amitriptyline HCL 10 mg. Based on a recent CT scan and blood work there was no noticeable inflammation. However, I am had the same lrq discomfort for the last 6 months with off and on diarrhea.

and did the amitriptyline work? I'm curious because I take it occasionally for pain.
