A study was recently published on Celastrol (extract of Thunder God Vine) as possible treatment for obesity. It looks like the compound also has some very powerful anti-inflammatory characteristics, by way of its interactions with NF-kB and TNF-alpha.
I found only one paper from a decade ago that looked at this drug for IBD. I'm wondering now that the obesity study is published, maybe they will start looking at it again for potential IBD therapy.
Of course problem is that it's a naturally occurring compound so there isn't any financial incentive to study it, unless you can maybe patent the dosage and process of specifically treating IBD.
