Appetite of a monster

I have had a huge appetite since starting pred. I have gained back 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks. Is this from the pred? My symptoms are a whole lot better. I just don't want to blow up like a balloon.

I haven't been on Pred.,but from threads I've read on the forum weight gain is a side effect of pred.as is "moon"face. The most important thing is that you're feeling better.I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you more informed advice.I hope you continue to improve.Best wishes.

Yup it's the prednisone. A lot of it is water retention though, I seriously doubt you ate enough to generate 10 lbs of fat jn a few weeks.

My Grace at four turned into a food monster because of ped.
She would BEG like an animal in public and I would have to tell strangers I really do feed her.:yfaint:

I'm glad your feeling better.

Me too been on Pred. for a couple months now. Started out at 8 pills - 40 MG per day and can eat like a horse. Easily gained 10 pounds and all the side effects, acne, sleeplessness, huge appetite (never full), grumpy etc.

Wish I could exercise to mitigate the weight gain but I am also on Methotrexate and my knees are bothering me too. Can't run or walk hard or else my knees ache.

As I am tapering down the Pred. my Crohn's is flaring up. Down to 5 pills 30 MG and having blood and loose stools again. Was fairly well under control when I was on full dose Pred.

Seeing GI specialist again in 3 weeks and we'll see what the next steps are.
