Blood last night

I had dark red blood in my stool.last night. My GI wants to try me first on hemmrhoidal cream. They doubt that will do anything. If it doesn't, John Hopkins will have to adjust my medication.

I have seen some on the toilet tissue but no more in the stool. I am confused. At first, my doctor's office said it was from further up in my colon because it was a dark color . The chiropractor agrees. The specialist at John Hopkins says it is hemmrhoids and had my gi prescribe some cream.

if its on the tissue, but not in the stool, it does seem more like hemmriods or a tear in the skin. Have you tried to take a mirror to look and see if you can see anything bleeding? I hope the cream works for you.

does the hemmorhoid cream contain cortisone? this could attenuate IBD inflammation as well for a little while, so must keep in mind.
I have never gotten dark blood (like burgundy you mean?)
with inflammation in the left colon and rectum, blood is bright red.
it is also bright red when its from bleeding hemmorhoids.

DS has rectal prolapse and crohn's in the rectum as well as other places.
He often get blood streaks on the stool or tissue when his rectum is inflamed.
We have done creams although traditionally they are for hemroids his Gi uses the steriods as a topical to get things under control before moving in to suppositories or in combo with suppositories .

For DS the rectal area took the longest to get under control.

Reading this makes me feel a little worried. I was checked for hemroids and they found none but I get varying colors of blood in my stool from black to bright red. I was told it was just my UC flaring but I haven't really experienced any remission on any meds so I don't know what to think about my bleeding now. I really hope that cream works for you, bleeding is no fun.
