Hi. New to the forum. 23 year old student from Norway. Started losing weight august 2011, started seeing a doctor in november 2011, finally diagnosed in march 2012 with Crohn's Disease in my colon and small bowel.
------
Backstory:
Was diagnosed with crohn's in my colon with colonoscopy and in my small bowel with a capsule endoscopy. Findings are superficial and only in parts of both the colon and small bowel.
After diagnosis I did the standard Flagyl + Prednisolone, after tapering off started Entocort, but was still sick and losing weight, with a CRP between 30 and 50. Was recommended for Humira, and while giving me the standard package of tests to start, was diagnosed with Clostridium Difficile, most likely because of the Flagyl treatment. Went on new 14 day Flagyl treatment, still had C.Diff, then 14 day Vancomycin treatment, still had C.Diff. Finally had a fecal transplant, which finally cured me from that. Started Humira 5 weeks ago. First did 4x 40ml, then two weeks later 2x 40ml, now I'm going to start doing 1x 40ml every two weeks.
----------
Got four pens with me home, one every two weeks. Was to take the first one, and I managed to have it go off by accident and spew all over my clothing.
So. I have an appointment with my clinic in 6 weeks to discuss my condition and get four new pens. It's been two weeks since my last injection, and I only have 3 pens to last me, where I should have had 4.
Do I:
1. Tell my clinic what happened and look like an incompetent idiot?
2. Go two periods of three weeks between shots, having 3 shots go for 8 weeks?
3. Get the new pens, take one immediately, and simply push the missing shot forward.
Obviously, I'm doing no. 1. I think. Because of my pretty mild diagnosis however, I am tempted to try no. 2. Maybe I only need a shot every three weeks anyway? Seems like the two weeks between shots is just a constant dosage that they do with anyone starting on Humira, regardless of severity.
Note: since I here in Norway don't actually pay for the pens, finances are not the issue. I obviously feel like a complete buffoon for messing up a $750 medication, but it won't be me taking the financial hit. I mean, if I hadn't had C.diff for so long, I would have had to start on Humira over a month earlier, and that's two pens right there. I don't know.
