Bummer news today.

My bf had his first colonoscopy since starting Avsola in July. While his physical symptoms have improved a lot, his results showed he still has severe inflammation throughout his entire colon. The person preforming the exam said things “didn’t look great in there.” He’ll obviously get more info at his follow-up and this is the very first treatment he’s tried. We were really hoping for some improvement though.

I remember feeling quite distraught when this happened to my son after the first medication he tried, and the second...People on this forum reminded me that there are many options out there and that more are being developed. My son is now on his third medication, and while I can't tell you anything for sure until another three weeks from now when he has his colonoscopy, I can tell you that his CRP and fecal cal are now normal and they used to be quite high. The point being that unfortunately, nobody has figured out yet which medication is going to work best for which person, so it's a process, but there are lots of possibilities, so no need to despair at this point.

Thank you! We’re trying to remain optimistic. I have health anxiety and get more worried about all of this than he does. Just was hoping he would be in the small percentage of people who get it on the first try. Hopefully his GI will have a good plan to try next.
Great news regarding your son’s numbers! Hope his colonoscopy shows good results as well and he’s on the road to remission.
