Celebrex: General Questions

Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone is currently on Celebrex or has taken Celebrex in the past. My GI recently gave me a script for it to try and help out the joint problems that I continuously have. With Humira and Methotrexate, he assumed that my joint problems would be solved with doubling up on those meds and it would help calm the arthritis that has seemingly spread throughout my entire body.

If you have taken Celebrex or currently do, what can I expect from it? Have you had good results with it? My GI says that it's alot easier on your stomach than alot of other medicines for inflammation including prednisone. Any little extra information or thoughts on this medication would be greatly appreciated.

I was also referred to a joint/arthritis specialist 3 hours away from where I live because they are afraid that I might not only have severe arthritis or rhuematoid, but they believe there are alot of signs pointing to my body having 'lupus'. I really hope not! I have enough on my plate already, if this is the case, I'll be one ticked off OOMPA LUPUS! :voodoo:

HI there :bigwave: not sure if you are aware but Nsaids, and ibuprofen is a no no for Crohns, it is now sought to be a precurser and cause gut bleeding. I was on it for long time and my crohns just kept getting worse. My husband just got off it, it isnt a good drug, especially long term. Sorry to burst your bubble, your other meds should help but I know sometimes they dont.

I don't have Crohn's Disease, I have Lymphocytic Colitis, but I was on Celebrex for costochondritis for 6 weeks and it did help with that pain and inflammation (though it came back when I went off of it). It didn't seem to affect my gut negatively though I know some people here have had issues. Coming off the Celebrex was not fun though. I had hot flashes and other discomfort for 3 days and will never take it again.

If you haven't already, you may want to have your vitamin D levels (read that) checked to see if they're low. Others have reported reduction in arthritis and body pain once properly supplemented.
