Considering remicade and nervous

I've had cd for 23 years in small bowel. Sulfasalzines are not working. Doc recommended remicade over immunosuppressant for small bowel cd. Really nervous about going to biologics. Thought?

Welcome! My son was on remicade for over two years and felt great. His disease was in his small bowel as well. Due to the damage and severity remicade didn't quite get all the inflammation(I think this is rare as many have small disease that responds great to remicade).

He had a small bowel resection and started back on remicade but he had developed antibodies.

I think you will find numerous success stories with this med. I wish w still had it in our arsenal!

Good luck!

My doc wants me on remicade too, like you I'm very nervous
to try this medication, I've had all the tests done just waiting to see
specialist again. Have had cd since 1983
best of luck to you.

Thank you for that information. I am at the dr now getting ready to discuss it.
How did the discussion go? I have Remicade infusions for fistulas.Have you checked out the Remicade/Infliximab support group? http://www.crohnsforum.com/showthread.php?t=4544 Perhaps this group could help with any questions you have.

I started infusions July 2014 and I am currently on the maintenance schedule, every eight weeks.

Let us know how the appointment went.
