I have terrible constipation. In the last month it has got so bad that the pain is Terrible I can feel my food coming back up with terrible burning I also get pain and pain where I really thought I was have a heart attack I had to drop to the floor I have terrible wind from both ends. Doc has referred me but I have to wait till feb, I am on tablets to help with the acid and sickness tablets. My eyes burn in the mornings and are very blury I am tired like you would not believe. I had a scan and a internal one and that was normal all blood tests have come back normal which is weird as I use to be anemic. Doc is now doing blood test for the acid or something.. does anyone have any ideas this runs my life.

Have you ever had a colonoscopy? I think it would be a good idea to see a GI doctor as opposed to a regular doctor because they deal with these specific issues.

Charleston,
Welcome to the forum, sacha! I'm sorry to hear what you're going through. :(

Like justbreathe8, I'm wondering if you've had any testing done. Hopefully the wait until February will go quickly, without too many symptoms. The wait times can be rough!

 I hope things get better for you soon!

Waiting until February is not that long - with the NHS you can sometimes end up waiting much longer.

There are many things that could potentially be causing your symptoms - they don't sound that much like Crohn's, which typically causes severe diarroea, sometimes with blood, though of course there are also atypical cases.

What medications have you tried so far?

Diagnosis can be difficult when symptoms are vague, and having many tests come back normal is fairly common.

What type of scans have you had? Do you remember the names of the tests? It sounds like your pain and nausea may relate to the upper digestive system, and the best test for assessing that is usually an upper endoscopy, but you'll have to see what the consultant recommends. Remember that if a doctor is unhelpful (like the doctor who diagnosed IBS sounds like) you can always ask for a second opinion.

Hi sacha and welcome to the forum! :D Sorry for the late reply.

Some people with Crohn's do deal with constipation instead of diarrhea so it's hard to say if you might have Crohn's or not. I'm glad that you'll be seeing a GI specialist soon. If your symptoms are really bad or get worse then try contacting the specialist's office and let them know. It's possible that you could get in sooner or they could put you on the cancellation list to get in sooner. When you see the specialist make sure they do an upper endoscopy as mentioned and a colonoscopy with biopsies (biopsies are often needed to confirm a Crohn's diagnosis).

In the meantime to help with the nausea, try eating smaller meals more often along with easy to digest foods. Also try to increase your fluid intake as that might help with the constipation some.

Keep us posted on how you're doing. :)

Hi Sacha, just read your post, as trying to learn more about crohen's as my daughter is having tests to see if she has it. But reading your symptoms and how you have described your pain was exactly how I described mine when I suffered from gallstones and needed my gall bladder removing. Has your doctor mentioned having a scan? Take care

hi all i have had 2 scans, one internal and one like they do when you are expecting a baby both came back clear all my blood tests have come back normal as well but these symptoms are terrible i also have really heavy painful periods.

Sounds like you had an abdominal ultrasound. Do you know what the "internal" scan was? I'm not sure what you're referring to. Was it a test in which they put a camera down your throat (upper endoscopy) or up your bum (colonoscopy)? Or did it involve barium (a white liquid that, again, you either drink or they insert it up your bum with an enema, and then take X-rays of the barium moving through your insides)?

The ultrasound you had is not the best test - it will reveal some things, but it doesn't provide all the information that endoscopies can.

Have you seen a gynaecologist about the period pains? Bloating in your stomach could be a gynaecological problem rather than an intestinal one.
