Curious about elemental diets

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Though it is of the mild sort, it is normally well controlled using the SCD. I've just entered a stress-related flare, so I've been reading a few books under the Listen to Your Gut headline, particularly concerning elemental diets, and I was curious to try the recommended product AbsorbPlus. However it is ungodly expensive. $61 for a tub that last 2 days. Does anyone know of a product comparable to AbsorbPlus that isn't targeted toward people with unlimited bankrolls?

There is s section on here called Diet, Nutrition and Supplements or something similar. I wonder if that would be helpful.

Just wanted to make clear that elemental diets can be used to induce remission in Crohn's disease, but that's not the case for UC.

You may well have identified food intolerances through the SCD, which'll help symptomatically, but won't help the inflammation.

I think the Listen to Your Gut books are misleading in that regard.

Would you please be so kind as to quote peer-reviewed literature to back your assertion?

Just to be clear: your assertion that "elemental diets can be used to induce remission in Crohn's disease..."

@smt - there's a Cochrane systematic review - Zachos et al, 2007 "Enteral nutritional therapy for induction of remission in crohn's disease"
