Dark green poo

:shifty:nope... was told to stay off the roughage for a while.. someone mentioned to me that it may be the new vitamins the doc put me on. I go to see the GI Dr tomorrow.. just had me worried so thought I would see if this was something someone else had experienced..

IDK, I'm kind of new here too but I seem to have an off-green color quite often. I'm not taking any vitamins or eating lots of greens, but I am on some medication, maybe that's it.

I've had this too and on google search found it had to do with very fast transit coming from the small intestine..orange/brown/etc is lower..I just figured it was malabsorption

I know that mine can't be from a fast transit time...I have terrible C. I always thought it was just something that happens. I also have black specks that I assume may be blood?

The green may be bile. Talk to your GI, I am sure this is not the first time a patient has brought this up.
Good luck.

I don't have IBD, I'm on here to learn what I can for my friend with it, so this may have nothing to do with it but every time I've had green poo it was after taking iron pills or multivitamins that have iron in them. It never fails, happens every single time I take iron. Check those new vitamins your doctor put you on, if they have a decent amount of iron in them it may just be from that.

Yes, I have this problem a lot. My Crohn's has been so bad over the last few years that I ended up with Biliary Dyskinesia. I didn't have stones my gallbladder just would hold a lot of bile and dump it irregularly. I would also throw up a lot of green bile too. I had to have my gallbladder out but I still have very green diarrhea and I have to take Welchol for this. A lot of people don't know this but Crohn's can mess up your gallbladder.

I have had the same problem but it's like antifreeze and burns your skin right off. I too have had to have my gallbladder out but thought it was a different problem all together. Glad to know that I'm not the only one out there. :) I have been newly diagnosed even though I have fought the symptoms of Crohns my whole life.

I go for my official diagnosis tomorrow. The GI dr is pretty sure it is crohns but they are doing a colonoscopy tomorrow to verify.. I just hope they get it figured out.. I am so tired of being sick all the time.

Good luck tomorrow. If it is Crohn's, there is a good chance the colonoscopy will confirm that. I hope they get it figured out soon so that you know exactly what you are dealing with and the GI can get you on some meds to help make you feel better. Chin up, it looks like they are heading in the right direction.
Let us know how goes.
Hugs!

still no official diagnosis. they can say for sure colitis and diverticulitis but I have to wait a week for the biopsies to come back for a definitive on whether or not is is crohns.. ugh.. they did put me on some meds to get me feeling better though..

You know..I agree with brave heart..it is bile. Sounds like its passing through way too quick. Bike turns brown in the large intestine.maybe you have malabsorption for some reason in your colon
