Diagnosed today

Hi,
so today I got the news that I have Crohn's Disease which was not want I had hoped for. I started getting sick 6 weeks ago after never really having diarrhoea before it was just non stop, blood, bad stomach pains, fever and just wanted to sleep all the time. My doctor sent me for tests which all up have taken the 6 weeks and after a colonoscopy it was confirmed. My doctor has not referred me to a specialist and just have to wait now for an appointment to get some meds.

What I dont get is that I thought I was better as I already feel alot healthier, I get a bit of tummy pain have a little bit of constipation now but really I am good. So it that me getting better? I am very confused... Also I read heaps that eatting different foods can make you better or worse I have been trying out some stuff and it does not seem to matter what I eat or drink I am still the same. Does the be careful what you eat thing only happen when your not in a flare? Sorry as you can tell I really have no idea what I can expect or whats going on just scared and feel very alone.

I am 28, female from Australia.. Thanks heaps :)

Hiya krugers
and welcome

Good that you've got a quick diagnosis! You're no longer alone, lots of friends here for you.
Reading thro the forum and it's sub forums on diet, treatment etc will help to alieve your anxieties, this isn't a death sentence, it's gonna be ok.
There are so many variations of IBD, and cos it's invisable, there may be activity going on inside even tho you feel ok. I feel ok, but I now know not to become complacent and always be on my guard, it's an unpredictable bitch!
Hopefully your doc will sort you out with appropriate meds.
good luck xxx

Welcome Krugers, I'm sorry about your diagnosis but hopefully they will now be able to target the appropriate treatment for you. We all have a real challenge with diet and what may work for me may not work for you. There is a lot of trial and error.

Please take your time to explore the forum, it has an abundance of information.

There is also a Crohn's org in Australia you may want to get involved with http://www.crohnsandcolitis.com.au/

Hi and Welcome to the forum. Sorry you got Diagnosed with Crohn's, but glad it was done soon. For some, food does not make a difference, others have to be careful what they eat. You are going to find out if you have to avoid certain things or not. It's very good you are feeling better, but Crohn's can be doing damage and you may not have symptoms, so keep up with you follow ups even if you are feeling good. Keep in mind that everybody is different. You are not alone, you will find a lot of information and support in this Forum.
