I just got surgery to put a seton in my perianal abscess.

I was wondering if I should start to eat normally? I am so scared of eating because it hurts so much to go to the bathroom.

Today I had nothing but crackers. Does anyone follow a normal diet while having a seton? My BM's are pretty soft no matter what I eat since I am in a flare but I'm still scared and would like some advice from people living with Setons...

Hi Abby, glad you found us :ghug: Things on the forum can be a bit quiet at the weekend, but I'm sure someone with more experience than me of setons will be along fairly soon. Meanwhile, there are quite a few threads on the subject so have a browse.

Hi Abby, hope you doing good with your recovery , I too have seton and it's been nearly 3 months now, concerning diet I do juicing carrots, celery, apple and drink a lot of water and I only eat 2 meals a day Make sure you have lots of veg like broccoli and whatever veg that your tummy is comfy with and have some source of protein. Good luck

Hi Abby,
I have had a seton for over a year and never really ate a special diet. I tend toward D anyway so never really had to worry about it too much. I have read that you should avoid constipation in the first couple weeks of a seton - if it becomes an issue I think they suggest miralax - but it does not sound like you are worred about that. Good luck, I hope you heal quickly.

Naseous right now. Pain meds make me feel pretty bad, so I avoid them and end up with a pain in my a**...lol
I'm pretty tired of things always getting worse.
