Hi. I've had Crohn's roughly 10 years now. It's been up and down over the years. Last time I had a scan there was a 10cm narrowing in my lower bowl where it connects to the upper. Also I had a camera which could not actually get all the way round my upper bowl due to narrowing in there aswel. I've been under weight an struggling to eat for a while no so last time I saw specialist they put me on a fortisips liquid diet. They are really sickly an I feel as if I can feel them goin true my bowels with great pain. Especially at nite. Keep having sleepless nites also. Has any1 been thru the same and do I need an opp or will it get better? Plz help

I had strictures as well (10 and 5cm, located in Ileum and Sigmoid). I got along with them for few years but eventually had to have surgery that ended those problems (at least for few years). Longer the strictures are, more problems they cause. And dilatation is not a solution. So, sorry to say but I think you need surgery at some point. It is better to have it when things are all right, rather than in emergency like obstruction.
Thanks for reply. To b honest I've put up wit it that long now I feel like u want surgery even if it gives me a break for a few years. I've tried working through it but it's got to the point where I'm keeling over every so often with stabbing pains. Where it grips then release an so on. Is that similar to how u was. I go see the spec on thurs but I'm dreading him jus sending me away an booking me in for another check up in 3 month like they normally do an leave me to deal with it myself 
I'm goin through depression on an off at the min due to it which makes me nasty with family who are only trying to help bit I get so irritated it's driving me mad. How long Was u bedded up for after the surgery? I know it's not the most important thing but I'm self employed an hav people relying on me with my job which dnt help my health gas to come first now tho I'm starting to realise.

I had problems eating properly and I was avoiding lot of foods since they made me feel ill. Not so much pain, I had it before stricturing started, but sometimes stabbing pain and blockages with lot of pain.
I got an infection after surgery, had to stay 3 weeks in IV antibiotics at the hospital. After that cleared I started to heal quickly. Couple of months to get really back in business.
