Does anyone know SCD diet friendly doctor in London, UK?

Tantija,

I think the SCD diet has lots of benefits for people with IBS, but why you are looking for a doctor for that? Just read Elaine Gottschall's book. This is what I did and I was able to understand how to balance my diet.

Thanks for this. Yes, I read the book, I balance my diet but I am tired of fighting with the doctors who want me to use immunosuppressions because they do not beleive in the diet and for this reason want me to discharge from the clinic. All what I want it to be able to monitor my blood test and it is not so easy in UK. I am originally from Lithuania and in our country there is no problem to make blood tests as many as you want, you can go private also but not in UK.

You can have private treatment here. If you're on the diet now and it's working, then why do they want to put you on immunosuppressants?

Hi!
The reason is that they do not believe in the diet and because I have only 195sm of thin intestines left after operation they want to be sure that I am getting the treatment. But I do feel much better. I started the diet in the beginning of December 2011. My CRP was 21, after 3 weeks my CRP was <5 and still the same. It was a nice surprise!
Unfortunately I still could not tolerate any milk products except butter. I tried even 48 hours fermenting of goat milk yogurt but unfortunately it did not work also. So I have to make yogurt from the nut milk at the moment what I do myself from the grounded nuts. I do not want to eat much nut yogurt, just a table spoon of “soft cheese” made from this yogurt, as I bake bread from grounded nuts and eat nuts as a snack. I do not have diarrhoea most of the time. I am very much impressed as I had it for 14 years. I do still have it rare but probably because I not aware of the ingredients. For example I cannot eat sundried California raisins even it says that nothing is added so I believe it has something what I could not tolerate. I was dark chocolate addicted and surprisingly I do not miss chocolate so much but bread. All gluten-free bread has starch in it so it is not suitable for us. I cook “jam” from the apples, berries and honey to have something sweet. I did bake cookies from the nut flour in the beginning but now I only bake bread. I buy my nut flour from this company http://www.naturalchoice.co.uk/
How are you coping with disease all these years?

Hi, I’ve been on the diet for 5 months and recommend you definitely see a nutritional therapist if you would like to do the diet properly. It’s important to tweak it specifically for your own requirements. Docs are not really in a position to help. If you’re going to do it properly, the book is not enough. Taking the right supplements is also important.

I can recommend this lady. If she’s in the wrong area for you, she may be able to recommend someone:

(I can’t post ins yet so search the following:

Online support is also crucial. Search for

and

My life and my health have improved dramatically since doing the diet.

Hope you make progress too!

Please stay on your meds if your doctor has told you to, there's likely to be a very good reason for it, especially considering you've already lost a lot of intestine and if the diet wasn't to work then it'd likely mean even more surgery for you. Feel free to not take them, but it's likely to be a very bad move.

Also you can just get blood tests done at the GP. Just book an appointment and that's it. Or turn up at a hospital with a form and you don't need to book, just wait.

Thank you. The diet does quite well work for me. I regulary do blood tests and there is no sign of inflamation. Sorry but from my expirience I am not always trust the doctors :)

Hi tan, I agree that scd is great, but I think you should also listen to the doctors because although you may be feeling good and not showing symptoms there could still be something brewing underneath that you don't know about, bloodwork is not always accurate at measuring intestinal inflammation. If you did both diet and meds you would be a lot more likely to stay in a deep remission in my opinion

I can understand not always trusting the doctors.

I would recommend getting a second oppinion, which I guess you are trying to. Are you treated by a GI do or the GP, maybe ask the other for advice.

Somebody who specialises in diet will be biased towards this, just as some doctors are biased to medication. Keep this in mind when speaking to one or the other.
