Welcome to Crohn's Forum, a support group for people with all forms of IBD. While this community is not a substitute for doctor's advice and we cannot treat or diagnose, we find being able to communicate with others who have IBD is invaluable as we navigate our struggles and celebrate our successes. We invite you to join us.
I was just curious if anyone knew if most of the medication prescribed for Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis is used solely for IBD or if these drugs are used for other disease also.
I know remicade is used for rhumetoid arthritis and AS (I think thats right?)
Ive also heard a very few cases being used for really bad exzema (sp?) but not sure if that was just a side effect of another disease.
methotrexate is a form of chemo used to treat rhumetoid arthritis as well ans some cancers , but on a much larger dose.
these are my 2 drugs, so thats all I know
I'm not real sure on this one actually. But thats an interesting point. It seems the drugs get approved for other illnesses before crohns, does that mean its getting the funding needed from other diseases and illnesses?
