Expat coverage in Mexico?

Hello! I'm currently taking mesalamine for ulcerative colitis and considering applying for residency while working remotely from Mexico. I'm wondering if anyone here is in a similar situation and has advice about covering medication costs with insurance here. What I've found so far is that private insurance companies here generally don't cover prescriptions, or would deny coverage for a preexisting condition, and travel insurance is even more averse to it. It seems like IMSS or INSABI (the state systems) might cover meds but that's harder to consult about if you're new here and not yet in the system - any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!
