For years

Hi,

I am new to this forum, but just wanted to say that I have been diagnosed for about 13 years now, since I was 17 and there is support out there. I know that most people just think that it's someone who has bad diarohrea (sorry about the spelling!), but those who suffer from Crohn's or UC know that it is simply not like that.

Welcome to the forum, SurreyTRW. I think you'll find plenty of support here and lots of people who can understand you like no one else really can. Yes, from what most people know about IBD, going to the bathroom may be about all they know, but as you said, there can be so much more, unfortunately. If you look down through some of the forums and subforums we have, I think that's evident! Again, welcome.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

I agree that people can have quite a narrow understanding of what this disease entails and cannot fully comprehend the many problems is can cause, we have a great bunch here though that totally 'get it'. How are things for you currently tummy wise? Are you on any meds at the moment?

Hi sawdust,

Am currently on infliximab every 2 months, have been for about 9 years now! So far no relapse since, it's a fantastic drug that literally changed my life. I got diagnosed about 13 years ago (I believe), and this drug is the best one so far.

What symptoms have you been suffering from mostly when you have a relapse?

Thank you all for the support, I am currently on 50 mg of imuran. My family doctor thinks this may becoming less affective than it once was. I have an appointment with my specialist for 2 weeks from now. Right now my arthritis is really bad; hands, knees, hips. Also experiencing more nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping and loss of appetite than usual. I don't particularily like my GI, i hope it goes well.

I'm glad to hear that infliximab is working so well for you. That sounds like a real successful treatment for you. May it continue to give you lasting relief!

When I relapse, I do have D problems sometimes, but not like many with IBD do. I mostly have problems with vomiting and fatigue. None of it is very fun, and I can tolerate alot, but the extent of fatigue is unreal sometimes. I work very hard all the time because I have always been concerned that there will be a time when I won't be able to. Pushing through that fatigue is very difficult sometimes.
