Gall Bladder Polyps...waiting for Op.

Tynemouth,
I have a Gall Bladder polyp, which was dx'd by chance during recent IBD tests.
My GI suggests my G.B. is removed to be on the "safe side" I am waiting for an apt.with the surgeon to discuss the procedure. I've been doing some research online, mostly on UK sites and on this forum.A lot of people have reported diarrhea and nausea sometimes continuing for months after the OP.,I can really do without that !!! I understand I have to adjust my diet to eliminate fats, and that's not a problem. Also some people are reporting pain in the OP. site for a long time after the surgery. I intend to ask the surgeon if it is really essential to remove my GB,as I've not had any problems with it,and it seems to me that I'm asking for more problems than I already have with my Crohns.

Thank you in advance for any advice.:)

I had my GB removed several years ago. I don't have IBD. The pain at my surgical site was practically non existent. My GB was removed by laparoscopic surgery. My husband had to have traditionally surgery, longer recovery time and more pain. Neither of us experienced a lot of D afterward.

I think it can be very individual, my husband's niece had her GB removed. She has refractory CD she said the surgery and recovery were a breeze compared to all the CD stuff she has been through. Oddly enough, it was also one time she didn't have D(for a couple months post surgery).

Sending hugs your way!

Tynemouth,
That's what I needed thanks, positivity. I understand that those with negative experiences are most likely to write about it, and I can't help but worry. As I said in my post,I intend to ask if this surgery is vital, and what effect it will have on my Crohns.
Thanks again for the quick response.

Hi Scottsma,

I know I'm resurfacing a years-old thread, but did you end up getting the GB removed?

How large were your polyps? Were they growing?

Did you get any GB pain at all?

In your case, did the surgeon recommend removal even if no symptoms?

I'm currently under monitor for these, picked up on a general ultrasound. My Crohn's seems to be in-check, and like you I won't want to pursue this avenue if, as you initially said, I'm asking for more problems than I already have!
