Hi all!
I keep going to the bathroom everytime I eat something. I will be calling my GI doctor tomorrow about this. How is everyone doing? Hope everyone here is well.
Take Care

Hey Leah131...

I get that regularly (can someone say that they're regularly irregular? I dunno). I am adverse to OTC (over the counter) remedies, tho they're awful tempting at times. I have found that starchy food seems to help, so I force myself to eat 'white' bread (& u dunno how much I detest white bread) or plain bagels.. or small helping of mashed potatoes... I also am on a low fat diet, and have cut out everything ending in 'ose'.

Hope that helps.. (if nothing more than knowing you ain't suffering this alone)

I remember those days. After I was cleaned out I got the runs. I just learned to live with it and I ended up eating a lot of potatoes. I like to make those little red ones and cook them over medium/high heat with extra virgin olive oil and basil.

Good luck

Keep us posted on how you feel

Make sure you drink A LOT of water (as you are losing a lot) and try to eat some more "binding" foods like a banana, rice or oatmeal. Also you may find that something like metamucil may help bind your stool to make your washroom visits less frequent. Good luck and hopefully this will pass.

Staying hydrated is EXTREMELY important. A simple way to tell if you are becoming
de-hydrated is the 'pinch' test. If you pinch your skin, and it doesn't immediately
snap back, then you are dehydrated. It is also common for anyone with diaherrea
to limit liquid intake. your body normally reacts badly to any intake at these times.
There is a homemade anti diareutic(sp?) you can make from cornstarch & water. It tastes terrible, but can be less harmful that OTC products (use it in moderation). I was personally surprised to be told by several GI Specialist & Nutrition counsellors
that FIBRE can be bad for you in the midst of a flare... Seems inflamed bowels and low fibre are better..., but should switch back to high fibre when not inflamed.
(that's why they've got me on this low fibre diet - once I get my colon to a stable state, then I can go back to whole grains & high fibre).. GOD I HATE WHITE BREAD!

One more quick thought. If you have ever suffered severe de-hydration, then you should add cranberry juice to your fluid intake, and lots of it. A side effect (albeit a long term side effect) of de-hydration is kidney stones. Been there, done that.
Believe me, you don't want to go there...

Hope you feel better soon
