Had a bowel resection 3 years ago

Hey- can I please get some advise
A few days ago I was bending over cleaning well scrubbing the sofa and I felt my intestine turn over/ twist pain was so intense took my breath away and thought I would pass out I got myself straight up and it flipped back and I was fine. Has anyone experienced this? I have since also had pain in the join where I had a bowel resection the anastomosis??

This happens to me as well. I had a small bowel resection almost 12 years ago. I actually came on here specifically looking for an answer to this question because it has been happening more frequently and more intense. I always assumed it was an adhesion from surgery. I hope we both can find the cause of this.

Hey sorry you’re going through this too - I don’t have an answer yet due and mri soon but if it’s adhesions they won’t show in that. I was also having a flare and started treatment again prior to this I was in remission, since starting treatment it’s not happened again so could it maybe happening more frequently to you because you’re having a flare?
Also I had my resection 3 years ago since also had my son I didn’t have issues before so currently really don’t know haha

I had this happen once or twice in the fall during a flare and have no idea what it was! Felt awful for a few seconds and then it was gone.

That’s so strange and such a bizarre experience when I did speak to my consultant about it she referred for MRI but mentioned that during a flare that part of your bowel is harder and if you have a bowel resection with more room and space to move it could cause the flipping. So glad I wasn’t going crazy though and others know what I experienced!!

Yeah, you're so right: it's a bizarre enough thing to have happen that I definitely feel better knowing I am not alone. Mine happened to me in the fall, before my first surgery, BUT at that surgery they found a ton of adhesions that had previously developed from the Crohn's disease itself. So it's very interesting to me that you have chalked it up to adhesions.

Actually I hadn’t but I posted on another forum and there someone shared a link to an article where this has happened to someone is one of the affects of adhesions and supposedly puts people off from getting surgery! But let’s face it sometimes those surgery’s aren’t our choice needs must! I did some reading though on how these adhesions can be stretch out and even snap or at the least stop then from getting tighter with certain stretches and even exercise I have started!
